The game must be pretty damn far along. Hope Blim gets some footage. I had heard DOA4 was gonna be playable too (DrDogg).

Namco will be showcasing a playable version of Ridge Racer 6 for Xbox 360 at the Tokyo Game Show, the latest issue of Famitsu reveals. While the game was previously announced, this is the first time we've had confirmation of it appearing in playable form.

Famitsu also gives a few details on other Xbox 360 Tokyo Game Show offerings. MS's own Kameo and Taito's World Air Force will join Ridge Racer as playable titles. Tokyo Xtreme Racer, Rumble Roses XX, Dead or Alive 4, Frame City and Tengai Makyo Ziria are expected to be shown in video form. Koei has not revealed the status of Dynasty Warriors 5 Special, although it will be shown in some form.
We expect the final list of Xbox 360 titles that make the TGS cut to be much larger than this, so stay tuned to IGN for Microsoft's pre-TGS press conference on 9/15.

I would hope that Perfect Dark Zero would be playable too. Isn't the 360 supposed to launch in the three major territories by the end of the year? Or no?

you must work for EA. i mean are u really gonna post this about pgr3 is every thread possible?

nah scrap, not at all. I just have a feeling Bizarre is gonna push it back. I want the game just as much as you or anyone else.

this could either look better than pgr3 or another case of "xbox 1.5"

i feel like this is almost like a litmus test for how serious japanese developers are about the 360.

Yes, I'm interested to see what the Japanese developers have support-wise. If RR6 looks and plays great, then Namco may actually be serious in its support for the 360.

If it's simply half-assed...

I agree. Namco pushed the PSone with Ridge Racer. They pushed the PS2 with Ridge Racer V. They pushed the PSP with Ridge Racers. If the same dedication isn't in the X360 version then I'm giving up on Japan 360 support outside of Team Ninja who has already proven their work on the Xbox platform. Namco pushes hardware hard at launch. Well, they push hardware hard all the time. The good teams do, anyway.

Good point(s). I really wonder how long this game has been in development.

I uhh.. don't think I've played a Ridge Racer game extensively since the .... first one that launched... with the Playstation. I've played a few others here and there once or twice, but that's it..

I think I'm missing out.

I wonder which version of PGR3 they would show, the 60 fps "fast version" or the 15 fps "beautiful version"

Weren't those for devkits only ? they might have the game running on final hardware.
Maybe they'll have a 60fps beautiful version...or maybe they'll have nothing at all.

Ridge Racer 6 is going to so totally OWN PGR3 it's going to be a pathetic comparison.

Namco is bringin it next week oh boy oh boy oh boy :D

They pushed PSP to the limit with Ridge Racers but that's about it. Burnout Revenge kills Ridge Racer V on PS2 and Need for Speed High Stakes killsl Ridge Racer on PSX.

Ridge Racer VI has been in development for at least one year but somehow I doubt it will look better than PGR3.

RRV was a launch title and burnout revenge a what, fourth gen one ?
Same with RR and NFSHS. Why not comparing it to RRT4 instead ?

Well, I do not know about totally owning but I think its going to be pretty awesome.

Overall, Ridge Racer is my favorite racing series. I loved RRV on PS2 and the original on PSOne was just fantastic. Rage Racer was awesome as well and the PSP Ridge rocks.

I expect great things.

But I think I have put more playing time in Burnout 3 than any racer before. Revenge is going to be great and I wet my pants thinking about a PS3/XBox 360 version of it.

I have liked the Gotham series but they have just not gotten as much playtime from me as others.

I also look forward to to Need For Speed Most Wanted. Underground was okay but I personally liked Hot Pursuit better.

NFS looks better than RRType 4.

I sure will try to get as much footage as possible :)
As for DOA4, according to Edge (I think), it won't be playable because TN wants to do the gameplay tweaks at the last minute by inviting some of the best DOA players in Japan to playtest it.
And PGR3 I don't know yet, I asked Ben at Bizarre about it but he did not know what was planned.

EEEEK, what the hell is this ?
This is by namco ? wtf--

Anyway, looks like a free roaming...something, it's not really comparable.
But anyway, i also wrote in some recent post, namco is not pushing hardwares the way it used to; they generally are among the best for first gen titles but then they don't keep up, don't really explore possibilities anymore, don't code more efficient engines with different generations of software etc.

No, nfs didn't look better than RRT4.

Some racing game by Namco and I think they were trying to go after Burnout 3 :lol you can see the results before you. (btw its not a free roaming game)

And Need for Speed High Stakes does look better than Ridge Racer Type 4 but the NFS HS has some frame rate problems.
