No, it's set in the Alien universe, it just won't lead into Alien.

I'm just going off what Scott and the writer are saying.

And it will be their own fault. It's not called Alien, there is no bait and switch.

It includes the most pivotal set piece from Alien in it's trailer and uses Alien's opening typography motion graphics. That's going to generate certain expectations.

Personally I think it's a good choice to let Scott free to do what he wants and not be tied down by the other films. I just hope it's slightly more connected to them than they're letting on in those interviews.

I was really hoping the space jockey would be something other than a giant human. But given some of the rumors, I'm sure they can still do some interesting things with this.

EDIT: Anyone saying this doesn't have any connection to Alien is fucking fooling themselves. Whether it's 1000 years or 1 year before Alien doesn't matter.

Unless it's just ANOTHER Space Jockey that crashes into an alien planet.
