Fox has announced today that the previous mystery date of March 4, 2016 has now been moved ahead to November 25, 2015 and it will be the home of "The Martian." The Drew Goddard penned adaptation of the book by Andy Weir follows an astronaut who is stranded on a Martian colony and struggles to survive. Back on Earth, NASA tries to mount a rescue mission.

Either going to be a pretty quick shoot or he's been in deeper production on this than he first led on. Either way seems it'll be his post-Exodus film.

Sure, but wasn't Scott also responsible for some of the story issues as well?

He's responsible for changing the general direction of the film to try and be two things different things at once. Then he's responsible for not questioning any of Lindelof's fourth-grade writing choices.

Ridley Scott never stops making movies right, some directors make a movie once in 5 years. But Ridley Scott does make a movie almost every year.

I should give the bonus features on that blu-ray a re-watch for sure.

The hell, why not? Lack of time or something?

Coincidentally I was thinking about Robin Hood today and how I really should watch it. I know it's supposed to be boring/bad, but I can't leave this mortal coil having completely ignored a Ridley Scott/Russell Crowe/Robin Hood combo.

That's nothing compared to Woody Allen. Since 1982, he's directed a total of 35 movies, as well as a segment in New York Stories. Talk about being productive.

Because he steered him (Lindelof) in that direction and he liked what he got back. Scott is more to blame than Lindelof was. Easily. Not to say Lindelof is blameless - hell no. But Prometheus is Scott's fuck-up, primarily.

Also, American Gangster is a decent film. It's not GREAT, but it's a good mid-level 70s crime flick.

A few he shouldn't of done, although he's been on a hot streak for a while now.

I thought so, considering as director he usually has final say.

At least Prometheus gave us more Rapace & Fassbender. So there's that.

And visuals, excluding the windowsvista.jpeg

Hopefully he's kept far away from the script.

To be fair, it could be real good without the presence of Damon Lindelolz.

You addressed this later, but yeah. We all know Scott had a ton of input and approval over the Prometheus script, and we saw how terrible it was. Even without Lindelof, we'll have Scott's poor judgment.

Blade Runner
Gladiator
I went back and watched Gladiator a few months back. I didn't much care for it back then and looking at it now, it just seems much worse. The incestuous lust that Commodus had for his sister though was at least interesting to see. But in the end of the day, how did this movie win Best Picture, again?

American Gangster is great, but its not the epic he probably thought he was making. Its a solid 9.
Most of that 9 is denzel, guy of course carries the film.

Prometheus is crap, but most of my issues with scenario writing were Scott's fault, he also cut the best scene in the film, I'd like to slap him for that.

God, I love this renaissance of space movies we're enjoying. I don't even care if some of them suck. It's just awesome that regular movie-goers are excited enough to see them.

And Russia firing up the old Soviet machine? Who know... maybe the space race will rev up again.

I never thought that I would ever say this, but fuck it:

The Alien franchise needs to be rebooted. (Predator also while we're at it).
