What if The Martian is Prometheus 2?

RIP Andy Weir

also, it's a pretty easy script, technically speaking. I mean that there's no extra nonsense to 'explain' and that they can even opt to use a mix of active scenes with the logs-style of the novel.

For instance:
explosion happens, viewer sees result.
cut to log: explanation of what happened.

Think Europe Report, basically.

Remake of this

Interested to see how a movie turns out. The book was good (read it in one night, had me hooked) but it seems like it'd be hard to turn in to a good movie.

Yesss.
It might not be the best director but at least it's happening. The book was great.
I bet they'll completely destroy it.

Jessica Chastain,Mackenzie Davis and Jeff Daniels.

Love these people, can't we just have a movie starring them.

Mixed on Chastain. Loved her in The Help, thought she was awful in Zero Dark Thirty.

I'd rather see Prometheus 2, I really enjoyed the first film.

Book author Andy Wier said that he is very satisfied with the script that Drew Goddard wrote. Chances are very low that Ridley and Damon will screw it up.

Great to know. I will be interested to see how the adaptation turns out, as a lot of the book doesn't easily lend itself to film. I really like the concept and the reasonably believable solutions to the problems in the book, so I am cautiously optimistic
