It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
They should deliver a cassowary to the mayor's residence. Show him what a real taste of Australia feels like.

"The system failed. Water came down walls, there was a strong smell of gas in some apartments and there was "shorting" in the electrical wiring. "

Sounds like a Hitman level. If someone starts chucking coins just run.

How come The Olympics and World Cup are always such a disaster?

Because they keep him holding them in countries that are in no shape to host them.

Australia, England and America are pretty much the only countries properly equipped to handle such events without significant impact. Especially on short notice.

I'm sure there's others that could generally, like Germany and such, but should the Olympics need a last minute switch or seomthing, Australia den the US could take it on on short notice.

They shouldn't allow developing nations to bid for this shit. It doesn't earn them anything but fucking over their own people for subpar preparations. These countries are not equipped to host this shit and it only hurts their own economy to try.

Of course when first world countries host these events they are more successful.

But what if the first world countries don't even want to host the Olympics. Looking at you, Hamburg. It could have been wunderbar. ;_;

Misread your post. But this is correct. I guess we'll see on this one though.

The Brazil Olympics has been a political hotbed from the beginning. Building huge stadiums and athletic facility in poor areas of the country. Taking people's homes to build it when there really isn't a large enough market to make those huge public stadium projects worth it.
Actually, most of the complaints are that they didn't do that.

The Idea was to revitalize poor areas of the city, but most of the places used were places with little presence of people. They only destroyed one slum that was pretty small to make places for buildings and even that slum was in a rich neighboorhood.

And they knew of the problem with stadiuns and facilities, that's why a lot of those were constructed in a way that can be transformed in another facilities after the Olympics. There is one stadium that it will turn into four new school after the games and the infraestruture is already there.

It's about time someone revoke the ability for cities that can barely take care of their citizens to host the olympics. I don't care at all for the contests. They're a bunch of nationalistic bullshit that continues to divide country's for little to no reason, but if you're gunna hold them, they should be done right and safely.

This is just complete idiocy.

Seems like the Australians hit a nerve

The major should take this less personal and look more at the corruption that caused this, public money is being wasted to contractors who obviously do not do their job right and pocket most of the cash. Sochi was the same iirc

Because they waste a ton of money to build new venues and in the process they fuck their own people over, billions wasted for 2-4 weeks...

They need to start putting these events in places already set to host without having to add a single new venue...

Atlanta got a lot of use out of the new venues that were built. It also didn't waste a lot of money as sponsors pretty much footed the bill.
