RIP Adolfo "Shabba-Doo" Quiñones a.k.a "Ozone"

Shit, this news hit me harder than I thought it would.
For this white kid born with two left feet (figuratively speaking), Ozone and Turbo were the coolest double-act on the planet for a brief period of time in the early-mid 80's.
We all did it....digging out some cardboard boxes from the skip behind our local grocers or a bit of lino, before slipping into our knock-off Nike windbreakers and trying to spin, pop and/or lock, while the kid with the ghetto blaster popped on the C90 full of tunes from the newest Streetsounds albums.

RIP fella. Who will save "Miracles" now?

The dude from Electro Rock was nice with it. This and beat street were huge influences in my life.

I can't get over Van Damme dancing in the background in this scene..

And yay, same here.
I am doing a bimonthly party with Electrofunk and Miami Bass music where I live.
This is my jam.

Everybodys gotta start somewhere. I was an extra on a movie once..maybe one day ill star in a movie about a bullshit karate guys story.

Those breakin movies bring back good memories....i remember growing up in NY all the kids would lay down carboard on the street corner and were break dancing. I could do the worm but i was usually too shy to join in.

I miss that fantasy outer space vibe old rap and dance had before all that stuff got so violent and angry and dull. It was all clearly born out of the Funk movement before it.

Battle Cry is like my life. I still say let’s serve these fools at 53

Interesting fact about 808 in east coast hip hop, Adrock from the Beastie Boys actually had one very early on, he produced Its Yours by TLa Rock which was a pretty popular record at the time. First record I’m aware of having 808 use with actual rappers from New York/East Coast. A year or two later it was everywhere lol
