Rob Ford takes leave as new drug video emerges

The recording, covertly taped by a patron of Sullie Gorman’s Monday night, captures the mayor being unruly as he’s ordering booze, complaining about his wife Renata and making lewd comments about mayoral contender Karen Stintz.
“I’d like to f-----g jam her (Stintz), but she doesn’t want ... I can’t talk like this ... I’m so sorry,” Ford says on the recording. “I forgot there’s a woman in the house.”
A bartender at the watering hole — located in a plaza near his mother, Diane Ford’s home and across from a park named in honour of his father, Doug Ford Sr. — described the mayor as being “in fine form.”

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has admitted to smoking crack cocaine, saying he had done so in a "drunken stupor".

Mr Ford made the confession to reporters at city hall on Tuesday, saying he had taken the drug about a year ago but was not an addict.

The mayor has rejected calls for his resignation after the revelation that a video apparently showing him smoking the drug was in police possession.

He had consistently denied doing so and vowed to run for re-election next year.

"Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine," Mr Ford said outside his office on Tuesday.

"There have been times when I've been in a drunken stupor. That's why I want to see the tape.

"I want everyone in the city to see this tape. I don't even recall there being a tape or video. I want to see the state that I was in."

The allegations of drug use against Mr Ford came forward in May after the gossip website Gawker and the Toronto Star reported of the video's existence, but it has never been released publicly.

Last week, Canadian police said they had recovered footage from a deleted hard drive that appeared to show Mr Ford smoking from a crack pipe.

Document: "LISI was met at the entrance to the city employee parking by Mayor FORD who swiped him into the controlled access area."

Both Mr. Price and Towhey (Mark Towhey, the mayor's former chief of staff), apparently told police they had "concerns about Lisi."

Document proves that Ford is under investigation by police. This doesn't strike you as odd that the mayor of the city is under investigation? I'm pretty sure i'm not under investigation, it's not a common occurrence unless you're suspected of being a bad guy.

It's truly ironic that Ford and Lisi had meetings where they didn't acknowledge each other while something was passed between them. They were trying to play it cool but when you're under surveillance it's super-suspicious behaviour.

I think these report was released because the media forced them to do it in court. Maybe I'm wrong

A criminal charge isn't the only thing at stake here. Ford needs to answer questions as to his behaviour. He should be telling us what's going on. It shouldn't have to go the the point where the police charge you with a criminal offence in order for an elected official to be held accountable.

If the investigation is still underway they might not arrest him. Court ordered the documents to be made public, and even still there's tons of stuff blacked out.

Meeting with a known drug dealer repeatedly in secret without some offsetting reason is generally cause to raise some serious questions.

Higher standards for public officials do and should exist.

Another former Ford staffer who appears in documents: Chris Fickel.

He met with police on June 28, 2013. Docs reveal that Mr. Fickel has met with Mr. Lisi on many occasions. Mr. Fickel said he met Mr. Lisi for the first time when he dropped Payman Aboodowleh (a football coach for Don Bosco, who also has a history of violent crimes) off at Mr. Lisi`s home.

Mr. Fickel said that the Mayor and Mr. Lisi were together "a lot" in January, 2013

Mr. Fickel said people were "starting to wonder" who Lisi was in the Mayor's office, because he was driving the Mayor a few times a week. Fickel later told police he "does not know where the Mayor got marihuana from but has heard that 'Sandro' may be the person who provides the Mayor with marihuana and possibly cocaine"

Here's a simple test:

a) Do you live in Scarborough
b) Do you think there is a problem with "the gravy train spending"
c) Do you love Subways*

If you answered yes to any of those, then you might think he's a good mayor.

* - Depends on a) whether you now live within the 3 stops that is being built and b) do you mind paying the extra taxes that he said he won't raise to build such subway.
