You've been my country's pants for over 140 years. This is the least we could do for you.

i will warm your legs from now until eternity if you keep this Rob Ford engine going for another four years.

I'm off to bed I'm sure we'll see twelve more videos of him stumbling over himself before the end of the morning ;)

Every time I watch footage of Rob Ford being a drunken/high dumb ass, I always put "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen in the background. It works so fucking perfectly. This guy seriously gives no fucks.

I'm really happy I moved to Montreal so I don't have to be associated with this Rob Ford bullshit. I don't really know anything about our mayor though, but at least he isn't known worldwide as the silliest moron on planet Earth.

Fuck, did I just jinx it? Goddamn...

We'll do our best. After all we too got bored of watching our politicians just plainly walk into meetings in boring normal ways. Nothing like a good ol' stumble!

David Soknacki quite the race for mayor. He realized he couldn't go against Ford.

He was the only sensible guy in the race. (Tory is a total knob, Chow is an opportunist.)

I've completely lost faith in the people of this city.

The fact that his 32KM, 9 Billion dollar subway plan is being taken seriously, even though he has no answer where that 9 Billion dollars will come from, should tell you plenty on the general public ignorance on how things work.

Montreal's Mayor Michael Applebaum, who promised to restore public confidence amid Quebec's widespread corruption scandal, has been arrested and charged with fraud, conspiracy, breach of trust, and corruption in municipal affairs.. Quebec government is the most corrupt government in Canada. Welcome.

I was in the US last November and I was so grateful that everyday when I woke up and put on the news, it always started with "Crack Smoking mayor, Rob Ford, has today vowed to...". It always set me up right for the day.

This man is still our mayor.

Let us all collectively bow our heads in shame for how bad our system has failed us.

This guy doesn't give a fuck. His life is either:
a) going full throttle...

or
b) getting stopped in its tracks when it runs head-on into the unforgiving wall of real world consequences

It's almost been an entire year since this thread was started. It's time for you to do something about this guy already, Canada.

We have the Toronto elections on Oct 27th, and I swear if we get Ford more years I don't know what I'll do. I live too north of Toronto to vote for it, but I basically live want to work downtown.

I just hope sanity reigns and Chow is elected somehow, heck even Tory would be better.

Understatement of the year. If Ford gets re-elected, would that be more or less deplorable than when Bush got re-elected?

Bush was corrupt and incompetent, but he knew how to handle himself in public and in private.

Ford is corrupt and incompetent, and a complete, disgusting embarrassment.

I'm going to vote whoever's leading in the polls and isn't Rob Ford, just so the chances are as low as possible that this jackass gets re-elected.

Well, at least council was able to strip him of his powers, so that's got to count for something..

This is incredible...

Is this guy really still and elected official in Canada?

Well, for what it's worth, the only way to get any mayor out of office is to vote him/her out during the next election. He's been stripped of power, but still holds the office. There was nothing else we could do, really, unless he was willing to resign himself.

Technically the provincial government could have done more. The Canadian Constitution does not expressly give powers to municipal governments. These powers are given in trust by the provincial government. How that would play out in practice, however, I'm not sure.

Good point. I forgot that Denzil wanted to petition the province to do something about it but it got voted down, I think.. I can't remember how this panned out.

http://www.thestar.com/news/city_ha...st_rob_ford_if_mayor_doesnt_take_a_leave.html

There is nothing in the City of Toronto Act, which governs the city’s relationship with the provincial government, that allows for the province to intervene in the city’s affairs in the event of a scandal.
The law says only that the minister of municipal affairs can dissolve the entire council and call byelections for all seats “if city council is unable to hold a meeting for a period of 60 days because of a failure to obtain a quorum.”
The law also says a mayor’s office becomes vacant if he is absent for three consecutive months from council meetings.
