I'm more intrigued by Alita: Battle Angel, as i only found out the other day, being a fan of Rodriguez films,mi looked up what Alita was and it sounds like a cool Cyberpunkish thing, so i am looking forward to that.
I don't like Rodriguez
He certainly hasn't presented a case as to why should anyone like him.
p.s. Sin City is a fluke.
Like 90% of the reason the original is so great is because it's 80's as fuck. The way it looks, the way it sounds, the special effects, the pacing. By definition, making an updated version is going to strip a lot of that away.
No thanks.
This is something that could be decent if done right, but we'll never match that 70's/early 80's New York grit again.

I liked the Mexico trilogy. Granted, it's been a while since I've seen them.He certainly hasn't presented a case as to why should anyone like him.

to anyone remaking john carpenter movies: stop
I don't, and I love both In the Mouth of Madness and Guillermo Del Toro.I still want In the Mouth of Madness remake by Del Toro.

Hoping Kurt Russell makes at least a cameo in this movie.
It truly isn't.Sin City also isn't all that good
This remake has been gestating for so long I thought it was dead, but if the studio is really going ahead with it then Robert Rodriguez seems like a great choice. I recall that almost three years ago three actors were rumored to be on the shortlist to play Snake: Jon Bernthal, Charlie Hunnam, and Dan Stevens. I wonder if any of them are still interested or being considered.
Either way it seems the better approach would be to take the general concept of EfNY just do a new city and a new character. Then they'd have more room to play with the story without as many comparisons to the original and Russell's iconic role. Plus of course we'd need a six-film arc and cross-over universe with another franchise setup in the first movie.

Kurt Russell was 29 years old when he filmed EFNY. Not a baby face but certainly not old and grizzled.Old and grizzled. Del Toro would be a fantastic pick. The worst possible outcome would be some baby faced fuck playing Snake.
David Hayter?Might be cool. Dunno of anyone that can really fill the Snake Plissken boots though.
Yeah, he was on Rodriguez's The Director's Chair.I know Rodriguez has a ton of respect for Carpenter. He constantly plays Carpenter's movies on his network, and if I remember correctly even conducted a great interview with the man a couple of years back. I don't think this is a good idea though. At least in the sense of recasting an iconic role such as Snake. However, I guess if a was held to my head and I was made to choose a director for an EFNY remake I could do much worse than Rodriguez. He's got a better chance of providing that EFNY feel than the random studio hire does.
We'll see how Battle Angel comes out before I allow myself to get any sort of hype for this. It's been a while since Rodriguez has hit a home run for me (liked Planet Terror and Machete was worth a viewing I guess).
Trivia: Robert Rodriguez is responsible for my username since I was a huge El Mariachi fan during my teens.
