Another thing that might have cause a problem is Tom Sawyer.. We have the same song twice. They have to make sure that it doesn't play back to back.
There's already two versions of Working Man, and I'm pretty sure the Tom Sawyer DLC track has (Original Version) tacked on, similar to Working Man and (Vault Edition). I don't think that's the problem.

I bought Surfer Rosa, my first Pixies album, purely for the old fightclub.mp3. Now not only is Fight Club a good movie, but I have it to thank for getting me to listen to several awesome albums.

It's a pretty cool phenomenon. People who bother to find the source material are the kind of people I like.

I always hate it when I go to a movie and I see "based on Foo" during the credits. I mean, I'd probably still want to see the movie, but I wish I could have read the book first. If I read the book after seeing the movie it'll always be tainted by the choices made in the film and will prevent me from experiencing my own unique take on the material.

Now we really, really need that movie based on Survivor to come out. Assuming Choke does well it might happen. Plus, Kevin Spacey (rumored to be starring in Survivor) hasn't been doing so hot lately so it seems pretty likely that they could get him for it.

I'm reading Snuff right now, but Survivor is definitely my second-favorite Palahniuk novel. Choke just didn't work for me quite right and Invisible Monsters was obviously a first novel that allowed him to really nail Fight Club.

The short story "Guts" (I think it ended up being in Haunted, but I actually found the copy of Playboy it was published in just for the story) was great. I have an mp3 of Palahniuk doing a reading of it in NYC if anyone wants it that was my first exposure to the story and it was... just wonderful. He gave a great reading to the material and with his first-person, narrated style it really works for the story.

I'm kind of freaked out that, as I was reading your post, this song came up on shuffle. Perfectly timed and everything. Scary.

I love that mp3. It's always a great surprise when it randomly pops up in my playlists. I'm embarrassed, especially after praising TheGreatDave for chasing after The Pixies, that I've only read maybe one or two of his books. I really ought to rectify that situation.

Me too. I've only read Fight Club and Survivor.

Snuff is coming along very well so far. Only a few chapters in ATM. It's about a porn star going out into retirement with a record-breaking 600 man gang bang. He has good research in it and documents other, similar gang bangs in reality and how they didn't quite measure up the promise (e.g. having guys go again, just plain lying, etc.). Based on the title and such I'm to presume that it does not go so well for the leading lady. It's written from the point-of-view of three of the men waiting to participate.

Choke was OK, but it felt a bit all over the place and never really came together for me. Invisible Monsters was good, but it really showed signs to me of having been his first novel and could have used some polish. Good, but not great. I still need to get around to Lullaby, Diary, and Haunted.

I'd also suggest Bret Easton Ellis if you're a Palahniuk fan. Different style, but I think there's plenty of room for cross-over appreciation. Less Than Zero is a tad dry and dated. American Psycho is maybe a bit overly long and can be a tad dense at times not to mention actually managing to find a way to go places that pushed at my limits (and that is amazingly hard to do... Stile Project back in it's heyday in the early part of the decade barely managed that), but I would recommend it. The films of his work has also been pretty good if you ignore that Less Than Zero was ever filmed and instead just watch The Rules of Attraction which is pretty damn good.

Well, that's an overview that's got me going over to Amazon.

Oh and they did a series of three short clips done up as ads for the starlet's early 80s porn films that are so amazingly wonderful and period appropriate that you just have to see them. The Wizard of Ass (IIRC) and I forget the other two. I'd link to them, but I think searching for them will be a lot more fun. I know they're on YouTube (along with everything else) and Palahniuk's site somewhere.

Sometimes I feel like I'm getting too much joy in just about everything. Especially adding in titles and spoiler tags. It feels like at times I never stop chortling. I also, of course, stealth edit like you wouldn't fucking believe.

The Wizard of Ass clip just pleased me greatly. That's some sexy exploitation.

I've already mentioned it a few times before, but the last patch (possibly in combination with the RHCP week DLC) broke the game for me.
With the patch installed, the game freezes if you boot it up while logged into a gamertag. (at the point where the "content loading" box would normally pop up) If you try to log into a gamertag after the game is running, the game freezes as soon as the gamertag loads. That means that only the first ten songs in Quickplay are usable with the patched game. With the original, unpatched game, everything works fine.
I'm not the only person with this problem. The reason I tried clearing my cache is that I found discussion about the problem on another board, and that's what the OP ended up doing.
I'm 255/255 on songs, also. I'm not sure if that's another cause.

Sounds like Souls of Black was re-recorded for the game.

The site has a video of Bodhisattva with a glimpse of the second solo and more of the post-first-solo picking. Looks quite insane.

The more I listen to that little section of Souls of Black, the more I dislike it.

It lost all the awesome of the album version.

HMX release the (Original Version) for it as DLC.

I was kind of hoping that they'd post the beginning of Peace Sells. The first solo in that song comes about 7 seconds into it and it's quite a doozy. I wonder if Harmonix put in some extra Overdrive to help people from not failing out within the first 15 seconds of starting, or they're hoping people have gotten that good by that point to flail on it and hope for the best.

Sp3eD: I'm sure if that if it was that simple, they'd use the original in the first place. I'd imagine that they didn't have a master that could be worked with for the game, so they just re-recorded. Makes me wonder who else re-recorded for the game besides Testament and Motorhead...

:crosses fingers that AC/DC didn't:

Yeah, Souls of Black just sounds wrong. Maybe if I hadn't gone back and put Testament in my MP3 rotation in preparation for their tracks in RB it wouldn't be so jarring, but as it is, it sounds like someone else entirely, and loses the proper Headbanger's Ball feel.

Those and Devo, (Uncontrollable Urge) that we know of so far. All the rumors of more Iron Maiden songs make me think that they've gone back into the studio for the game. I think that 2 Minutes To Midnight is going to be in the free 20-pack.

All those songs looked really fun to me, well except for Battery, which looked really annoying. I'm assuming it gets better (I don't really listen to Metallica, so I don't know)

God damn. If they REALLY did use a U8 for their game, that's fucking shameful. But given the amount of DLC that seems ready and in testing, they would have known this long ago.

Actually, don't answer that – your taste sucks and I don't want to know what you like.

Oh, nooooo, lol. The problem showed up the moment I downloaded the two Rush masters, the two RHCP DLC songs, and Promised Land, not this week. I was playing the game, stopped to download those, and when I came back... death. I don't care about losing online play, but no Moving Pictures would piss me the fuck off.

Not in your case, but the 255 song limit of what is available could lend credence to that.

They still need to patch the one song where the drum fill overlaps the overdrive set.

M3wThr33 said:
I'm pretty fucking surprised there was no patch yet for it. If there was none needed, it meant that it was coded from the beginning to handle instrumentals.

However, the OTHER possibility is that they also had an issue merging the Guitar Hero patch or something and they want to get it out together. I'm just hoping it's a multi-patch coming.
what. have you heard something?

I have to say I am so fucking sick of quitters. I urge everyone playing on XBL to send Quit Early reports to all quitters in ranked matches. I'm trying to get the "Win 20 ranked matches" achievements and it's proving impossible because in any given play session the losers drop out halfway through the song when I start beating them. Occasionally I'll get someone who will let me thrash them and occasionally I'll be the one receiving the thrashing but most of the time as soon as I get a sizeable lead they quit......so irritating.

Yep, it can be really annoying. Once during Brainpower I was beating a guy pretty badly, and about half way through the song he just stopped hitting any notes, until the solo, which he played. I figured he was just accepting his defeat. He quit on the last second.

Everything everybody says is "imo". It doesn't need to be added. It goes without saying.

True, but for many things, my opinion is really the only one that matters. Tens of millions of people may love the Eagles, but I'd still like to launch them into the sun.

Looks like those videos are taken from RB2. You'll notice that the streak disc is the slanted one and flashes red when they break streak.

Yea, but if the animation cues in the tracks are messed up, it'd show up regardless of game.

I don't know if that would take several weeks to fix, but.... I can believe it if that's the case.

I also don't think a U8 is a factor. I think they planned far enough ahead, what with saying 'platform' for so long. Plus, if that's what's wrong they could only release 5 songs over several weeks until they fix it. Though I am curious what size Strings they're using for band/song names.... Unless they're obscenely large, or flexible, there's probably a band/song out there that'd break them. (You'd probably have to go with super-experimental stuff, or early Panic at the Disco, but still!)

I would have to agree with you, so that must be true!

Maybe there's a certification process to go through again if they fix it, holding it up.

I don't see why it matters. Nobody watches the vocalist when they play an instrument. Apart from maybe BenjaminBirdie.
