YES! My threats on the life of the PR guy at E3 have paid off.

(From the Original RB thread around E3 time):

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE...
... well those of you who like Foo Fighters.

I was at my Rock Band 2 preview today at harmonix/MTV, and I took the opportunity to ask "Who do I need to kill to get more Foo Fighters in this game?"

The answer I got was "No one, just wait, it's coming".

I pried a bit about a full album, and I was given a pretty awesome answer: "I'd say by end of August there will be an announcement, look for it."

I'm quite glad it's colour and the shape, although a "best of" would have been awesome too.

Rust in Peace would have been a better Megadeth album. Hopefully we get it some day.
Musically, RiP is more accomplished, but overall Peace Sells is widely considered their truest album and one of the most influential metal albums of all time.

Oh wow I forgot how amazing some of the guitar work on Nothing's Shocking is. Awesome stuff.

I still want to know this weeks replacement song, all of this future talk is not helping my current longing for good music to play

Hopefully we'll get an announcement in a few hours and it'll be up tomorrow.

Speed, I posted your post, quoted, in the OP.

NICELY DONE.

WE ARE READY TO ROKK.

Add the Nothing's Shocking cover. Just think about what you're doing by not displaying a shocking cover for an album called Nothing's Shocking. It's art!

It seems an odd choice since it contains at least one song Dave Mustaine doesn't even play anymore since he became a born again Christian (The Conjuring, and maybe Good Mourning//Black Friday). Even though I was hoping for Rust In Peace, I still am happy though and look forward to having a few more songs on Expert that I can't pass.

heh... I admit I am not the most unbiased debater on this topic. The very first tapes I ever purchased on my own in 1987 at the influential age of 12 were Peace Sells and Master of Puppets.... what can I say..? :P

edit - and the cover for nothing's shocking. I simply don't see a mod banning based on a 20 year old cover of a legendary album

I only know Jane Says and Mountain song off of it, so let me take a listen first, then get back to you on the "Fuck Yeah!"

You'll love it. Jane Says and Mountain Song may actually be two of the weaker songs.
The album will be great fun to play.

While your at it if you haven't already, give the second half of Ritual de lo Habitual a listen. Absolutely epic.

I actually have Ritual and love it, and would've slightly preferred it over Nothing's Shocking, but after listening a bit to it, it's a solid choice.

Oh shit, I'm gonna have to play Monkey Wrench again. I must have spent an hour straight playing that back in GH2, trying to get a streak achievement. I never got it. I think my brain will reject the song if I play it in Rock Band.

Yeah man, that song was awesome on GH2! :-D I forgot about that.

I kinda wish they would have chosen Rust in Peace instead. Same goes for a greatest hits pack of Jane's Addiction instead of Nothing's Shocking. Everything else is great.

I do wonder what happened with Nevermind. I also wonder if these are all the albums we're getting this year or if we're getting a few more announcements in a few months.

What kind of a stool do yall use to play the drums?

I got this patio plastic chair that just doesnt cut it, or maybe I suck (more likely)

Honestly, how can Guitar Hero World Tour compete with this game? Once it gets to the point where the good song ratio of Rock Band is four times the size of GHWT's, it gets a little silly.

Either GH will have to step it up with weekly DLC, or the create-a-song feature is going to have to be amazing.

New RB2 opening trailer looks damn fine! :lol
Am I the only one who doesn't like it? It's not nearly as catchy and entertaining as the first one.

Granted, the first one was utterly amazing and it'd be really hard to live up to it, but still.

Where is our replacement DLC? I want to spend space bucks.
Maybe an announcement at 1PM EST with a release tomorrow morning?

I use a huge comfy chair that you find at Barnes and Noble. High armrests and everything.

It makes drumming harder (especially with hitting the bass pedal), plus you sweat like a madman with the door closed and the 360 on, but it's still awesome.

Guitar Hero doesn't need to compete, it's already won.

The new opening CG looks stupid in my opinion...granted I'm a bit biased because Highway Star is the most awesome song ever and it actually makes sense to play that song while riding on a car.

Also the chain wielding guy crawling around under the cars is just stupid.

Take a look at which system GH is selling best on and then come back and say Rock Band DLC is gonna make it more successful.
Who cares about sales-age?

I thought you were talking about the 5 total pads+cymbals in GH:WT.

Rock Band is already a name unto itself, which is a great achievement. It may not sell as well as GH, but it doesn't need to and that's why it's a success. Selling as much or more than another franchise isn't going to change that.

You can't compare a guitar game (especially one that people have had four years to buy a controller for) with a band game.

I agree that the stronger 'brand' is Guitar Hero right now. But Rock Band has the stronger experience. It the only game that gets better every week

Quoted for the laughs it will bring in a year or so.

We had people last November saying that the Guitar Hero franchise would be DEAD by the end of 2008. :lol

It's time for people to realize that both franchises are here to stay.

As far as the DLC goes, some people forget that about half (according to the vendors themselves) of all current-gen gamers don't even take them online even though the systems all have networking. It's a selling point to the hardcore.
