Yeah. I'm only buying the one songs by people you've not expressed a creepy lust for, but we can play Miley and whoever the other chick is.
Fuck that if we're not doing Selena I'm not playing with you.

Edit: I still get an error trying to d/l the pack from the marketplace. Is it up in the music store?

It doesn't matter which you download it from. I grab from the French version all the time cos they often get RB DLC first.
Ah cool. Gimme a couple minutes then.

Edit:

Liar. It just goes to "page unavailable" whenever I try to buy it.

Double edit:

The pack is all that's fucked. I can d/l the individual songs. Fuckers getting an extra 40 points from me.

After playing GD:RB demo I have to say it's pretty damn good! I'm not a big fan of the band but the game is just fun to play and I think it's gonna be a great party title! And I guess it was the case when HMX decided to make GD:RB- not too much skill needed, pure fun. Definitely a pleasant surprise.

I'm makin a female taru healer in 14. Alpha invite plz Square.
Yeah, I'm definitely going with something that doesn't swing weapons this time (if I play)after leveling Paladin, Monk, and Ninja in XI. Replacing auto-attack on a timer with button mashing on a timer is just about the dumbest design choice I've ever seen made.

Thanks for playing Dave. I represented Selena well enough. The others, lol.

Back to Pantera now so I can get some of my testicles back.

Harmonix wins on non-censorship:

A backwards swastika
The black skin riddled in lead
A Nazi Gangster Jew
It beats a dog that's dead

is all intact.

War Nerve was pretty weird with all the fucks and cocks silented out but it will be ok singing.

SMG2 is pure sex. So beautiful. Have you played it yet Dave?
I got three stars after I mowed but Pantera and Selena were more important. Yoshi was a fucking blast though.

That Fall Out Boy song that says "Goddam arms race" is uncensored in GH, censored in RB. Clearly Neversoft respect the artistic integrity of Fall Out Boy more than Harmonix, wouldn't be surprised if a lot of bands stopped working with Harmonix now.

Like Jimi Hendrix's estate, The Who, AC/DC, Green Day and The Beatles, right?

Finished Pantera dlc...

Standouts on guitar:
13 Steps to Nowhere
The Underground in America

Songs that are not fun to sight read:
The Great Southern Trendkill

Songs that are completely boring except the solo:
Floods

Songs that have a boring ass bridge where you do nothing:
Living Through Me

Songs that are not fun guitar:
Suicide Note Pt. 2

Everything else was great fun and not difficult. Sandblasted Skin was a bit weird but I've heard the song enough that fake muscle memory served me well. They were super generous with star power before the solos also. There are a couple songs that gave you three bars during the outro which I hate (I'm looking at you Crushcrushcrush on vocals).

I'd try vocals but the dog is asleep and he thinks I'm going to beat the shit out of him when I do metal singing.

Just finished playing the Green Day Rock Band demo and meh. I don't know, I think the whole presentation is ugly...the loading screens were cool, but the rest of the other menus are awful. The crowd vocals are a travesty...you can't even hear them sing. Seriously, what the fuck is up with that? Rock Band 3 better have awesome crowd sing-a-longs because the ones in the demo are terrible. The calibration was off for me so I felt that I wasn't playing properly....one thing I did like was bass. Bass > Guitar in this game. The bass chart for Welcome to Paradise is fun to play and challenging (at least it was for me!).

Another thing I noticed was the whole countdown thing if you pause the game. That feature appearing in this game pretty much confirms it will be in Rock Band 3 and boy, is it great to have a timer! Great job stealing one of Neversoft's good ideas, Harmonix!

I wish there was a click with the timer when you came out the pause menu. At least it doesn't cover up the chart like in GH5 :(

The animation in GD:RB is pretty...bland I guess. It's not like it's terrible, it's just...nothing.

I went to the mall today, pick up random shit like books, DVD's, random stuff. I passed an arcade. I saw a DDR machine. I had memories of my childhood. I played it. Am i out of the cool kids club now? For all intents and purposes though, i played the remix themes of Gradius and Twinbee, and then played Xepher, because i'm cool (I'm sure CSB or someone in here has seen GH customs of that song). Its not nearly as fun as the old days, but if it weren't for those games, i never would have played Guitar Hero.

They went full mocap for GD:RB, IIRC. Hence why Billie comes across as being very accurate and Mike is...umm...a bassist.

Their faces are totally robotic. I feel like Beatles and Green Day were both major steps back from RB2 when it comes to facial animation and conveying some kind of emotion. I guess an element of abstractness is removed that harms the look.

And I think we've argued this before, but the drummer is an extra step back.

I'm a bit bored, so here's stuff I want for RB3 in the way of features. I only really want everything in the Musts section. Everything else is gravy.

= Musts =
- Harmonies. CHECK!
- Stars appear on the song select screen next to the song.
- Countdown after unpausing in the middle of a song.

= General =
- Whenever I beat a song, I want how much I beat my previous score, how I rank amongst my friends, and how many more points I need for the next star.
- Visual representation, in game, of how much further I need for a gold star. They aren't a secret anymore, and I want to know how close I am to getting one.
- Dynamic adding of songs.
- A prompt that asks if you want to play the newly downloaded song next
- Deleting, or hiding, a song from quick select.
- More types of music video "venues." Even simple ones, like outside in the daylight playing in front of a fence.
- Faster loading of songs.
- Faster loading of the Online Stores.
- Quick trailer of the DLC when selected
- Option to turn off preview when in the store.
- Leaderboards on the song select screen that show friends and overall position
- Option to turn on lyrics without a singer.
- Ability to sing and play any other instrument at the same time without needing an extra controller
- Rhythm, bass and lead guitar parts.

= Single Player =
- RB1/GH1/2/3 style story progression.
- DLC is automatically inserted. (Probably after playing through the story mode once.)
- World Tour mode is where Challenges are and not needed to unlock everything.
- Challenges are made up of location, genre or decade (Similar to RB2.)
- Challenges have "extra" challenge. Eg: playing to no music, playing a section of the song 100%.

= Multiplayer =
- Drop-in/Drop-out play. No going back to the band screen.
- Set "Friends Only" will allow only friends to pop into the game without needing an invite. Friends of Friends can join too.
- Extra Options DDR-style. Eg: If you hold down start after selecting the song, you can choose venue, hyperspeed speed.
- XBL/PSN cross play. (LOL.)

= Create a Character =
- More faces
- Band tees
- More Guitar/Drum brands
- More "attitudes" or styles. eg: Metal, Punk, etc.
- More art
- The ability to edit "permanent" features at anytime. Eg: hair, eyes, height.
- More clothing choices
- More Instrument choices
- Rock Shop OUTSIDE of the Tour mode
- Ability to transfer "custom art" to friends

= Extras =
- Setting characters to play when certain characters are selected. Eg: The same custom character can be set to play all bass characters in certain modes when bass is not selected.
- Also the ability to set female or male singer, depending on the song.

Agree? disagree?

I think they did a really good job with Dookie Billie's face; they really nailed his crazy eye look when it's needed. In general, really, the Dookie band looks a lot better than the other two.

I want those Rock Power Challenges like in LEGO Rock Band. I thought those were really great and I'd love to see what they can do with those in Rock Band 3.

I fucking hate the name change to this thread. Ugh, it's so hard to see when you're browsing the gaming section.

Those would be awesome, but HMX would need to do them as DLC. Otherwise playing the same on-disc challenges will get stale.

My attempt

Main menu:
Message of the Day spot no longer just used for Message of the Day. Instead, it’s an updating feed of info relative to me and my goal of world domination. Tell me if some bastard dares beat one of my scores. Tell me what my friends are playing. Obviously it can include Harmonix messages, but make it more.
Choose difficulty and instrument before I enter the quickplay menu.
Fuck you, AMUSIX
Show me at all times if anybody on my friends list is playing. If they choose to in the options, let me just jump in to their game mid-song (assuming I have all the DLC in their playlist)
Hyperspeed setting saved. Different hyper speed settings for different instruments. Different hyperspeed speeds. All of this to be an option in-game and in the multiplayer lobbies.

Song select menu.
New option: sort by release date.
New option: Show songs that you’ve recently had your score beaten on.
Friend leaderboards displayed (obviously).
The option to challenge a friend from the menu., with a notification that appears in their main feed.
The option to select a friend’s score and have it displayed when you play, so you can see if you’re close to beating it.
Voice recognition to search for songs.
Option to use a second controller with chatpad to type song name to search for.
By pressing start, I can change options. IE difficulty, instrument (on guitar), hyperspeed settings.
In multiplayer, simply don’t show songs your internet partner doesn’t own.
Party Play rip off.

In Game:
Different scroll speeds for local multiplayer
Option to have your highway be the same size as it is in single player, with the other players highway smaller.
Drum sticks counting you in out of pause menu
Option to calibrate from the pause menu
Song length indicator.
Display of your previous best score, and be kind of like a ghost mode, that counts up as you previously got points
Option to do that with friend’s score
Post song, option to view GH style detail on notes you hit/missed, whatever

Career mode:
Never make me play the same song more than once
Have songs in groups, but let me pick the order I play them (to a degree)
Jump in/out online play
Have challenges that are challenges, not just playlists

Silly options:
Let me disable songs
Let me disable transparency on the highways
Let me choose a venue and don’t stop me from playing online because of it.
