To them it might have looked like obvious shitty trolling but everyone in here knows each other and to us that was as normal of a comment as anything. You just have to know who said what. I guess I understand since we kind of have our own club in here and it makes it unfriendly to outsiders but still.

"Rules are rules" is what irks me the most. I'm 100% behind gaf having the common human decency mindset when it comes to racism/sexism/homophobia/etc. However, when the matter comes down to "you made fun of something I like," it is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. It's half the reason the gaming side sucks because every official thread has to turn into an "omg goty" orgy.MrOctober said:Well it obviously was but he does that all the time to us and it's charming. Then people in here give him shit back and everyone laughs. Rules are rules but this thread operates a little differently unless you only pop in every once in a long while. A running joke out of context looks worse.

The Playstation Network key will allow these songs to be played with Rock Band, Rock band 2, and Rock Band 3 via the Playstation Network.
TheGreatDave said:The Axe GH controller looks awesome. The other one is shitty and ugly.
I think the standard one looks shitty because it's too small. Double the size and I would prefer it over the axe.TheGreatDave said:The Axe GH controller looks awesome. The other one is shitty and ugly.
Space Cadet said:What do you think this statement means in the GDRB manual? I've never seen it stated this way (or maybe I have never really looked):
If this isn't poorly worded, does it mean we would have to be online to have access to the Green Day songs?

One thing this thread has taught me is that other people can have vastly different tastes and opinions and still be friends.

I'm guessing none. Granted I never really go into Gamestop/Best Buy/etc. but since GH3 I think I've only seen one or two new face plates to buy.GM Bullfrog said:It will be interesting to see what other "wings" they come out with.

On another note what the fucking fuck at the exclusive rights to Clapton for that fucking piece of shit game? I can see the "because it's a real guitar blah blah blah" bullshit but they have exclusive Dave Matthews and the drummer is the dude in the band with talent. The "swing sticks in the air with no rebound like an asshole" drums are a fucking far cry from "real drums". So eat shit 74 whatever the fuck studios. I look forward to your bankruptcy.

Not that I care too terribly much, but I wonder what Kid Rock's excuse is; I know he's been at the forefront of anti-digital music sales.
Space Cadet said:Kid Rock isn't on iTunes? Really?
There are so many things wrong with that statement, especially coming out of Kid Rock's mouth.Ridley327 said:His argument is that he doesn't feel its fair that a new band should get the same royalty rates as an established artist
Charron said:So we just (like, 20 minutes ago) got word of revised authoring standards for RBN songs.
For whatever reason, we now have to use all five guitar buttons no matter the difficulty. I'm sure there'll be other changes but that's currently the most obvious and nobody's sure why that happened.
Umm, doesn't most of the difficulty come from moving your hands around? Interesting changes. The new standards require that the gem colors (lanes) which are present in Expert are also present in all other difficulties. For most songs, this means that we will require at least one gem color for every color in Medium and Easy.
There might be rare cases where you use less than the full set of gems (or lanes) in Expert. In these cases you would be restricted to the same set of colors in the other difficulties. In other words, in Medium and Easy there should be at least one gem in each lane used in Expert level.
Easy and Medium, in general, should be no harder to play than they were before. There are specific guidelines for difficulty authoring on the individual authoring pages for guitar and drums.
Will that affect RBN songs I've already bought like Even Rats? I love that song but it couldn't be that much more difficult with the orange button, at least on medium. I support the change - it's better to teach newcomers all the buttons now than later.Charron said:So we just (like, 20 minutes ago) got word of revised authoring standards for RBN songs.

A lot of awesome stuff...Rewrite said:Hehehehe. I think that's good news if you ask me. It'll help encourage players to move on to more difficulties and also, it won't make it as boring and easy for them.
I wonder what surprises are in store in the next few days?

I swear, with the GH and RB info slowly coming out, it's made so incredibly clear that they are targeting two very different demographics. HMX seems set on making a new music tool, while GH is continuing to refine itself as a toy.
Prove it.TheGreatDave said:Shame nobody wants a music tool. The entire basis for the genre is "you can play music without having to learn to play music". Harmonix wants to be everything that the audience doesn't want.
Archie said:Prove it.
Ridley327 said:We don't actually know that anyone doesn't want a music tool. Every other effort has been woefully unsupported due to not having a strong enough presence in the marketplace.
Well said.Ridley327 said:We don't actually know that anyone doesn't want a music tool. Every other effort has been woefully unsupported due to not having a strong enough presence in the marketplace. Harmonix and MTV Games are entering into what are effectively uncharted waters.
As Ridley said, every attempt at edutainment has been half assed. If RB3 actually delivers, then there might be an untapped audience.TheGreatDave said:...seriously?
True that. I found TB:RB utterly boring on drums outside of a handful of tracks. It's not like they even need to be hard, I just didn't find the actual rhythms that interesting to play most of the time.Ridley327 said:I'm sure he's right when it comes to drums.
Archie said:As Ridley said, every attempt at edutainment has been half assed. If RB3 actually delivers, then there might be an untapped audience.
Ridley327 said:I don't think they've been half-assed necessarily; the problem is they don't have the kind of support that MTV Games and EA could give them. As a result, they're doomed to be niche from the get-go.
Like I said, no one has really tried going ahead full steam ahead with a concept like this before; it is effectively a brand new idea for the genre.
