Vocals are my favorite part. Usually when I'm playing with friends I'm doing that or guitar/vocals when they need more people to play expert.

And I swear to God one of those six albums better be...
VampireWeekendCD2.jpg

I saw VW around January or so, just around the time the album finally came out and I have to say that I found them very unimpressive live. I can't say whether it's just because it was an in-store (though an excellent in-store at a store that has a proper stage), but while some of their stuff can sound fun and poppy on the album it just sounds thin and weak live. About half of what they played was pretty poor. A shame because I'd liked what I'd heard by them before.

Not so sure I'd be happy to have them in the game. Put it up as DLC though and let the people decide.

Personally I dislike vocals. Not just because I cannot sing and have a terrible, terrible voice, but I also just have a general dislike of karaoke and the rigid nature of implementing it in games in specific.

The problem actually is that my girlfriend likes the idea of vocals. The problem comes from the fact that she cannot sing and frequently tries to do so and that she doesn't know any of the songs in the game. Even with all the DLC she doesn't know them. Even though I frequently see songs in the game from albums that I own. Of course, she's also never bought a CD in her entire life and is almost entirely ignorant of music. She doesn't even listen to music on her alarm clock, she puts it on NPR. Somehow she still claims to like music.

I just saw them last month and thought they were great live. Very fun, but a bit of a short set.

Now, that we have our first Instrumental, PLEASE MINIBOSSES DLC

Yep, I bolded AND underlined it

QFT. You know what else would be incredibly awesome and completely unlikely to ever, ever occur? If they could somehow manage to get the Super Mario Bros. cover that Mr. Bungle used to play. I think they only played it live too. Still, that's the sort of obscure rarity from a low-profile band that I would... well, be very happy about.

Did anybody ever go for money? The default outfits were enough for me; plain black T and jeans, ROCK.

My pink ruffled shirt, silver goggles, and top hat vehemently disagree with you.

Then again I've been told before that I actually look really good in puffy shirts. Must be the long hair.

Ok, so I played "Crushcrushcrush" and my head did not explode. It's still not a song I like and I will not in any way condone Paramore (or their incorrect spelling and I don't care why it's spelled badly... it's not even clever like the Beatles), but I have found them... tolerable.

The lack of modern (90s/00s) punk in RB continues to upset please me.

AND country music. Serious lack.

Hopefully YYZ will also lead to the White Stripes now.
Or at least the Raconteurs.

And Green Day, Fastball, My Chemical Romance, Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks, Ting Tings, Fratellis, The Used, Placebo, Snow Patrol, Shiny Toy Guns, etc.

This is just bait. I know it must be. It will not work on me. I will resist.

White Stripes would be nice though, but I actually enjoy playing bass and choose to do so often. Even if I have to go into the practice mode just to do so. Still, I guess it's only fair to have bassless tracks if they're both good and we get instrumentals.

Bass is cool. Especially on Muse tracks.
But the White Stripes are too awesome to leave out because of being a 2-man band. (Same with the Ting Tings)

If they put Vampire Weekend in Rock Band, I will remove everything from the OP, replace it with a giant GIF that says VAMPIRE WEEKEND IS SO SLOW AND BORING THAT IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY'RE PLAYING BACKWARDS and never post in this thread again.

Eh, actually, if I can live with "Float On" I can live with anything.

;D

Seeing that is beautiful.

Dave, what you are seeing there is NOT the Select Venue Screen, it's the option to ENABLE that before you pick a song. So it's either RANDOM or YOUR CHOICE.

Unchecked, that means in Quickplay, there's no choice of venue.
Checked means that you'll get that between songs.

Also, like someone else said, I'm close to going into RB shutdown mode.

Navigating the Solo Career song list is a BITCH and tracking scores is useless. I'm close to buying that $26,000 ring, but that's it. And I know my characters and save files will be reset. I'm probably going to use this time to finish up other games.

Holding off on DLC until RB2 launch.

Ahh, that makes sense regarding the venues. Cool way to do it.

So leaderboards aren't carrying over to RB2? We lose all our places for DLC and RB1 songs?

LIVE PERFORMANCES ON SNL DO NOT LIE.

Seriously. That whole season's breed of "new" "indie" "rock" by them and The Shins and Panic At The Disco was just absolute snoozeville. Even the chintziest lick of an Arctic Monkeys jernt cuts through that stuff like Tetsuo in Akira.

Shit, I don't care how it sounds live. If it sounds fine on the album, I like it.

Is there any info about the leaderboards being updated in real time now? It really sucks not to be able to check where you stand on the leaderboards right after you finish a song.

And on that note, they could also give the option to check the leaderboards right from the "song wrap up screen", because it's also a pain to have to go all the way back to the main menu and check the leaderboards there. Also, you wouldn't have to choose song or instrument to check the leaderboards on: it would instantly go to whichever song and instrument you were playing on.

I'll never know. Hey, man. I like tons of shit that most people can't stand. Cada uno a su gusto. I was talking about my reaction to the music. I got a bunch of people in here who every time I bring up Matthew Sweet's "Girlfriend", easily the best rock song ever recorded, it's like a stuttering mouse trying to speak up at a megaphone convention. It just doesn't land. People just don't see it.

So, hey, I've got my opinion on nem snoozers, you have yours. Music is subjective. It's magical that way.

I wouldn't really put Vampire Weekend and PatD at all in the same group =/

Girlfriend is my favorite song in GH2, and I'd love to have it as DLC, but you only mention it when I'm in Avril mode, so it falls on deaf ears.

When I first heard of Vampire Weekend, I thought they'd be a new goth hard-rock band. Maybe a heavier Sisters of Mercy type band or something along those lines.

When I listened to them, they didn't sound anything like what their name implied (at least to me). I'm on the same page as BenBirdie, in that they sound like absolute tripe to me.

Yeah that's always bugged me. I'd like to see some immediate feedback at the end of the song showing how much I beat my record or by how many points I missed it. Also some type of way to tell if a goldstared song was played to 100% or not.

leaderboards are all janky anyway.

So it's been confirmed leaderboards don't carry over? My top 30 score on Beetlebum that I can use to make McBradders die inside is going to be gone forever once we all update?

RE all the singing talk a couple pages back - it's been awhile since I sang in RB, but iirc, you have to start singing a bit earlier than the actual note in order to get the max possible energy (otherwise you'll miss out on the beginning of the phrase). That always bugged me, as it's unnatural to start singing each phrase early. I mean, if you don't care about score, then I guess it's not a big deal, but for those who want to go for 5 stars, it's a hassle.

Hopefully this gets fixed for RB2. Unless I'm the only one who found it a problem?

Fairly certain I remember reading that that original leaderboards won't be deleted, but they will have new RB2 ones. I don't know how that'll work with DLC.

With the addition of Breakneck Speed (hyperspeed) and fixing the talkies so that they actually work, the scores would be skewed. A reset is the only logical way.

Beetlebum

What you done

Shes a gun

Now what youve done

Beetlebum

Get nothing done

You beetlebum

Just get numb

Now what youve done

Well, not really. People have got 100% on most songs vocals I'm sure, and Hyperspeed isn't inherently "better". It's a preference for me, but not everybody.

Wait, what's wrong with the "talkies" in the vocals in RB1? I've never had a problem with those, I find them waaaayyy easier then actually singing most of the time :lol
