I have arranged to go out in two hours as well :( :( :(

Hurry HMX!

edit - It seems Rush is too awesome to go up without a fight!

Hey, suffer like me. I'm still waiting for my Xbox to come back.

I really wanna see The Camera Eye, just so I have some good porn for the evening.

Hurry!

The more I look at this, the more I wonder what the fuck Ion was thinking. No possibility of a double bass pedal, no ability to assign a cymbal to red (for the yellow=snare songs or for a left-handed setup)...it's like they were trying to half-ass it.

Looks like the only way to get a proper kit is to make one yourself. $300 for massive limitations? No thank you.

They are selling the Double Kick Expansion Pedal $39.99

And swap yellow and red on it for the song maybe?

And maybe note charting is not really Ions problem.

Unfortunately I already have confirmation that the songs do not detect either the Ion kit or the cymbals, and so retain the 'yellow is snare' assignment. The double kick being daisy-chained is great, glad to hear it, but making the set useless for people who play with lefty-flip on is absurd.

Note charting is not Ion's problem, but if this kit were made in conjunction with Harmonix, someone at some point should have brought this up...and, if they did, it shows very poor judgement overall. Still, I agree that the blame for the shit charting lies with Harmonix.

Finally, I am basing this purely on the review copies of Rock Band 2, and there still lies some potential for change in the final code...but somehow I just don't see that happening.

The standard RB2 kit also does not have a port for a red cymbal. I am fairly confident that if you're playing drums lefty, whatever's plugged in to the green port in back will trigger as red. I really don't think that Harmonix would just screw their lefty drummers out of any additional hardware or modifications.

CptUnderpants, can you confirm that my logic is correct? I really really want cymbals for my RB2 kit!

Is there any reason to believe that the plug for a yellow cymbal cannot simply be switched with the plug for the red pad? Just plug the yellow cymbal into the red pad plug and vice versa. Makes perfect sense to me.

so i accidentally used the wrong plug for the usb hub for rock band

and when i got the right plug, my drums and guitar don't work.

i fried them didnt i?

Have you tried plugging them directly into the system? With any luck it's only your hub that's fried.

I hope they are doing last minute changes to Tom Sawyer to put a #1 icon next to it for RB2 purposes.

I'm pretty sure that's correct, yeah - lefties won't be left out of cymbal fun.

Ok guys, my anticipation of RB2 is about to push me over the edge to finally buy RB game-only. I do have a question about the PS3 file-sharing (or whatever it's called). What exactly is the deal there? Can one person buy a song and just basically give it to all his friends? I already have a working guitar from GH3 for my 360, and I don't even own a PS3 yet, but I do plan on getting one eventually. I don't want to pay for all the songs I'm going to download on my 360 if I can just get most of them from other people on the PS3. I'm probably a bit off here, so please enlighten me, Rock Band afficionados.

How is this even supposed to work? Especially the two hammer-ons of the same notes one after another. Are you supposed to press the R and Y and slide down to B and O and then back, and then lift your fingers off the frets and tap the R and Y again?
Thats only the 5th hardest guitar song in the game.....

Alternately you can always physically move the pads around on the Ion kit...

I just listened to it, it sounded mostly passable until the last 50 seconds or so. I predict quite a few "failed at 95%" posts. This is one song I wouldn't be opposed to a BRE on.

the days are going by sooo slow....my "NO RB until RB2" binge is already having a effect on me. August is such a piece of shit month. COME ON SEPTEMBER!!

Yep the end sounds like the GGHT's zigzags of doom.

Gunna get my Strat solo button tapping skills back up to par.

But as for the chord part, Gimmie Three Steps does stuff like through it, so I don't really see that part being to bad. Just faster.

Yeah, there's some parts on Painkiller that just sound INSANE. This seems doable, but I don't expect to pass Painkiller on Expert ever.

Bodhisattva is a steely dan song.
Its from Countdown to Ecstasy

People who don't know who it is probably think its a stray cats song or something, to be fair it doesn't really sound like a lot of their other music, but Donald Fagen's voice is pretty unmistakable

I was actually trying to find out if it was going to be in RB, but the info is much appreciated. :D

I think you can, but it appears to be a much more involved process than I thought. Plus you need to share account information. It's more sharing account information than DLC, really. :|

I figured there would be some PS3 owners on here with experience with this. Only 360 people in here?

BenjaminBirdie said:

Yes. :)

It's not 'sharing' as you would think, though.

You log on to your 'friend's' PS3, make a new PS3 account, log into your PSN account and go into your download list and get everything. You can have up to 5 PS3s registered to your PSN at any time. You can deactivate from Account Management on THAT PS3

Soo...it seems like the new PS3 RB and GH will have compatible equipment?

360 as well.

Also, Rock Revolution will also be compatable with both on both systems.

No word yet from Nintendo on compatability, AFAIK.

I have to agree. The character creator could definitely use a bit more work although it is pretty functional now. Based on what I've seen in the Tony Hawk games, however, I suspect that GH:WT will have most customization available. Not to mention their greater degree of guitar customization. I mean, I'm a Fender fan myself (people actually play Gibson basses?!?), but they don't make a lot of really unique designs in the same way that Gibson does. You've basically got a Tele, a Strat, a Jaguar, and then... well, uhm... some various other sub-brands and such. Even with the basses the differences between a P Bass and a J Bass are largely functional and not cosmetic (well, unless you can actually manage to really see your pickup configuration while on stage). Fender's great and I'm glad they're a partner, but the default Strat with all the free customization is really all you ever need.

As for clothing the ability to dress in layers would be nice. Instead of Torso and Legs give me the ability to layer on Shirts, Jackets, Pants/Skirts, and Leggings. Making the cape an accessory (though I don't know where you'd put it) would have been nice as well. Also, while it might be a bit hard to get it to look just right I'd really like to be able to buy hats separately and take them on and off rather than having them be a part of my hairstyle which both forces my hairstyle and means that I can't take it off without having to buy it all over again.

While this is mainly about clothes I have a few other minor nitpicks I'll throw in as well.

Dave is right about posting leaderboard scores after playing a song. On the same subject add in separation the leaderboards for difficulty as well as tracking by overall score. Would it really be that hard to just throw up an extra button (say, blue?) that just switched difficulty between Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert, and All? Another minor and slightly unnecessary request would be to include announcements about when you lose a top score among friends. Just like with the BotB mode, but with individual songs. If you set a new top score an announcement is sent out to the previous leader that you've bested their score. The option to disable this would, of course, be a nice touch for people who don't want to be updated about it.

It would also be nice to get the detailed scores from II back again. It really helps with knowing which parts of a song to focus on practicing. Ideally I'd like to be able to get a quick replay of the song that I can slow down and speed up. That way I can check and see exactly what I'm messing up on. Still, detailed stats alone would be nice.

Me and my buddy do this. We each have eachother's accounts on eachother's systems (All you need is the user name and password). Each week, we'll take turns picking up the songs, and the other person logs in as them, goes to recent downloads, and picks them up there. It's easy to do as long as you trust the other person. This system has actually lead to a lot of impulse buys and picking up stuff we wouldn't normally get.

Sorry, Harmonix

Yeah, it'd be nice if I actually had friends with PS3s who own or will own Rock Band. :(
