Download the Green Day Demo. Load the demo. Go to Exit on the main menu. Press A. See it. Believe it.

Interesting on the keyboard thing. I'm interested to see how they pull it off.

So the first thing I did in GD:RB was fail a song to see the "band fight". Was kind of disappointed as they just pointed blame at each other and no fists were thrown. Surprised to see two of the three venues in the demo as well. Also, either the calibration numbers are different, or I had the TV too low, or my guitar is dying, but I was missing notes left and right. I'll give it another shot later.

Edit; shit, that means we'll probably get the entire Doors catalogue... on the other hand it means we could get some Ben Folds Five in. CONFLICTED.

I wonder if there is metadata in place for keyboard compatibility for the current batch of songs. :D

I gotta wonder if it will be a full fledged keyboard or a plastic toy. I'm hoping for the former but anticipating the later.

It will have to be more than five buttons or it would be a "lay the guitar flat" peripheral. I'm guessing ten buttons, five for each hand. That would let you make chords and play bass lines.

On the flipside, I can't think of one song with piano in it I would want. I'm sure there are some out there, but none immediately come to mind. Unless they go crazy and give some Moonlight Sonata metal remix...

Plastic Toy. I'm not gonna bother getting the piano pack or whatever when the game comes out. Already got enough plastic shit in my room and I could see myself using that piano for one day.
 
That would probably the only option that doesn't kill SDTV/small HDTV users:

I have no idea how you would make note charts with that, but hey, that's not my problem. A fourth fretboard would be shit considering it would have way more buttons than a guitar. Maybe make the piano board smaller and put another one on top that shows the next chord and show single note progression with different colors? That would still have no rhythmic aspect, though.

a full fledged keyboard would be astronomically expensive. given that the genre is on the decline, I wouldnt bank on this happening.

They're just getting rid of bass guitar because no one plays it anyway.

Way to spread the FUD, dude. There was just an interview that said disc sales have been increasing year by year. The reason the actual money spent isn't as much is because people don't really need to buy new peripherals anymore.

Even then, there wouldn't be enough space. Unless they do some shitty Keyboard/Keytar with like 6 buttons but that would be even worse than playing bass :lol

Maybe HMX is conceding that the genre is going to be relegated to niche status and focus on high margin products that only sell to a few customers. Kinda like that stupid train sim on Steam.

No but maybe they could tie it to Player 1 kind of like how harmony mics work. I'm completely guessing.

I will say this: If you can't play all the instruments at once, Harmonix better have a fucking perfect instrument swap mechanism within every game mode. If I have to exit to the main menu after every song because some stupid girl at a party wants to switch between singing and piano I'll throw the game out the window.
 
Keyboard FFS.

If it has 5 buttons it wont be a 'keyboard' and whats the point? If it has more where is the 'fretboard' for it gonna go?
Even if it some how fits along the bottom of the screen there aint gonna be much room for all the over stuff on the screen. It's bad enough with 4 instruments as the screen nevermind 5.

Also, with keyboard should'nt they be renaming Rock Band 3 - Lego:Rock Band 2

Having said that as long as the DLC (or RB3 set list for that matter) isn't affected music genre wise, I don't mind.

I have no interest in keyboard whatsoever and will be praying all our other niggles/gripes and wants about RB2 have been fixed in the 3rd installment.

I'm going to guess accident because the demo wasn't anywhere on the console marketplace. You had to snag it from the website.

Edit: It's still up though, so maybe not.

Ah. It wasn't up this morning when I spent 50 minutes going to every dashboard and in-game menu trying to find the GH dlc.

I just wanted to take a picture of me at the #1 slot on the leaderboards before all the savants played it.
