Can you believe the release of Green Day: Rock Band is only about a week and a half away!?! (June 8th to be exact.) Make sure you check out our 2-song downloadable demo of the game on the Xbox 360 and PS3, available now! Special surprises lie within!

Err...what special surprises? I didn't notice anything.

The other day, a post was made, and it's sort of been rolling around in my head...

Lurker here(this thread scares me)....
I wonder just how many of these there are. I mean,m I know in the past six months we've had a few lurkers speak up and join in, and I think we've been pretty welcoming. But, at the same time, we've seen a few people comment about how they fear stepping in.

So...where does this fear come from? Is it Archie's snark? Is it Pedro's love? Or do we just blame it on Dave?

They probably think we'll yell at them or something. They must take our constant ribbing of one another as actual hate towards eachother.

As Space Cadet alluded to, I think it is the shit giving. I only started posting what, yesterday? Then there are discussions that have seemingly nothing to do with RB and whatnot (more so than I care to disturb with talk of RB). Mostly it's the shitting on opinions sort of thing. Sure there will be someone that has your taste in music and thus someone to relate to, but as with any creative enviornment some people without those same opinions. Maybe as I skim the page I only see the posters who are needlessly harsh for a music game thread. All my opinion of course.

1) Yeah, Paramore hopped on the jesus rock bandwagon to keep themselves going. I have that concert bluray and she gets down on her knees and prays during one song. There are a lot of references in other songs too. I was playing one of the of albums during a road trip last summer and someone in the car asked why the fuck I was listening to christian rock.

2) Who in the world could or would ever talk shit about Kerry King? The dude is metal and he is Slayer. Granted his schtick is kind of silly now that he's like 50, but whatever. Even though they're my favorite band, I will concede that Tom is pretty much expendable. All his vague, little "I don't believe this shit I just do it for the money" interviews have really rubbed me the wrong way.

As someone who comes in and out of this thread, here is my take:

None of you are scary/annoying/whatever as individuals. However, this thread is run pretty much like a one-post-per-minute irc chat. If you're not in the main clique, it's really hard to be heard or noticed. I will say everyone has been a lot more open to newcomers lately and it's nice.

Hey Lurkers, don't be afraid of getting railed on, it's all part of the fun!

Unless you agree with Costanza, then it's serious business

Two players. Two sides. One is light, one is Archie.

Oh right...RB3. Yeah that wasn't a special surpise. I saw that before it was even available to DL on PSN. Stupid Grace Chen. :(

About the shy lurkers: I think it's just because you guys are a tight knit bunch and have been since this thread started. Almost 2700 pages now.

True that. I didn't mean to come off overly offended by the shit iving by the way. It may deter others but I see the lols. As with any group, the people that stick around long enough will integrate themselves into the massive circle that is :p

I disagree and I'm going to listen to Slayer now to prove you wrong in my head.

Do you have a problem with Hanneman too or is he just back-up singer tier?

I lurk the SA thread, but don't post.
Cos it's boring.

And super serious.
And I wouldn't get away with trolling.
I wanna post at SA but I don't want to pay for an account :(

One edit ahead of you.
It's not even trolling. If you bring up valid concerns you get trampled by the HMX defense force. :lol

I don't want to work. Maybe I'll give Dave $5 just to go batshit crazy in that thread for the next two hours.

A Something Awful account is $10. You might want to sweeten the offer.

Sell some of your ill gotten Xbox Live codes.

No worries from me. I've lurked here long enough to know most people have a sarcastic/good sense of humor in most things.

That, and I realize that most of the regulars either play RB a ton more than I do, or are just infinitely better than I am at it. That's what keeps me from posting more, moreso than being scared off by most of the regulars (most of whom I see posting just as often in the O-T threads, like the one for NBC's Community).

I almost exclusively play on Medium, and have to really screw up not to 5-star a track (on lead guitar). While I can play most songs on Hard (or can learn to play most of them), I've found that I have more fun when I'm not struggling to get through a track. (As someone who learned to slide up/down the frets when moving to medium....5th fret kicks my rear end.) I've never gold-starred a song.

I have a good deal of DLC, but it's far more often that I don't buy anything than I actually pick up a song or two.
Waiting for LRB to be delivered ($20 sale at Amazon! :D ), have AC/DC, and RB 1&2.

I really keep coming back to the game more for fun than for challenge. I've used the CAC mechanic to build guitar hero-esque likenesses of actual musicians to fill out my 'band.' (After yesterday's news, Digital Hayley is going on hiatus, to be replaced by my original frontman, Digital Rick Astley. Dave Grohl on drums; Flea on bass.)

Mostly keep coming back to the thread to see DLC news / requests, and to share in the inexplicable, collective love for Paramore.

Nooo say it isn't so. I don't care what anyone says. My Haley is staying in my RB :P

Just Hayley in your band, or do you have other 'real' musicians in your band as well?

(To be clear, Hayley's not getting deleted. I finally got over the creepy-factor of putting her in the game a few weeks ago; setting body proportions is slightly off-putting in that respect.)

I've thought about changing up the rest of the band lineup, but the only other basist I can think of that people might recognize is Mr. Ashlee Simpson....and I can't inflict that type of trauma on the band. That, and the prospect of doing the tatoos for Digital Travis Barker on drums is just scary.
