It has promise though. Shame they didn't give Layla to the only game with keyboard support :(

What promise does it have besides being an ugly piece of shit that looks as good as a TV plug-in game? If that thing is supposed to be giving you enough info to play on a real guitar, fucking el oh el.

It has promise because the instrument looks to be solid. If they can hire a shitload more devs to improve the UI/general graphics, the game should do well.

Will it ever do RB/GH numbers? No, but it might do better than DJ Hero. Nothing is ever perfect in the first go around, I mean just compare GH to GHIII.

...dude, look at it!

Maybe it has some stuff we're not seeing because we don't have the instruction manual in front of us. Then again, they have that awful note string shit and even Neversoft found that was a bad idea in the end.

It's back in iGH though!

I just don't understand how anything on that screen translates in to a 6 string guitar in an authentic fashion.

Plus, that was on an easier setting. I'd like to see what the note setup looks like on the hardest setting.

If the gameplay is somewhat solid, I don't really care how nice or horrible the game looks. Looks can be fixed, but if the core gameplay is shit, that isn't so easy to fix.

edit: Did you watch the longer trailer where they explained the game can be played exactly like RB/GH on easier settings, slowly advancing into the actual real notes for the song on harder difficulty right?

You viral for them? How much would something like that pay?

It's a great and noble concept, but the execution is incredibly weak. This will instantly be overshadowed by the competition at heat should be their coming out party. Perhaps if they put this up against rb2, or beetles, they might have had a selling point. But, as it is, it'll just be regarded as a semi-complete knock off with no extra features that aren't both included and superior in rb3

Also, hosing the iPad to post makes for some interesting typos...hope you can read past them.

csb i actually listened to some of pinkerton and didn't think it was awful

csb = close Weezer fan.
better than Gaga and MGMT and some of the other awful shit you like. I couldn't get through the album though, I did think it was better than Blue.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Bless his heart...

And yes, he does need to 'tan the hospital's hide' if for no other reason than that if he doesn't, he'll be expected to pay the damn bill...

Go, Xevren!!!

I wish I was getting paid by anyone or anything :lol My current bank account is sub $100 for the first time since EVER (well I guess it was sub $100 when I was 13 and hadn't had a job yet).

You say these features are already in RB3? I didn't know that. If they are then the game has no chance. All I was saying is I'm willing to give the game a chance once the price comes down because

a) The instrument looks cool
b) Clapton
c) The promise that it will eventually have you playing real songs on a real guitar

If c doesn't pan out, well then the game will fail for sure. Like I said before, the game will never even be close to RB/GH, but if the instrument is good, and the GAMEPLAY is good, it should do decent compared to something like DJ Hero or GH:Van Halen.

"Through January 2010, the game has sold 789,000 units in North America"

Maybe not a million, but considering that's 3 months of sales it's not too bad.
Still a flop, especially considering the good press it got and the fact it had the backing of Eminem and Jay-Z.

Well, only one of those is getting a sequel.

Also, I thought the bass line in Longview with the chords was in the song more. Guess I need new ears.

Which is the bigger flop, DJ or Beatles?

are we factoring in expectations & money spent making the game?

DJ did a little less than I expected, but at the same time, it was a much better game than I expected.

Just finished playing Dookie on drums. It does not disappoint, probably the best album in RB for drums. The Hendrix one might be about equal with it..hard to say. Regardless, amazing to play. If you're a drummer you need to get this
even if you just export it into RB2 using..seedy methods:lol
.

DJ Hero did pretty well, bro. 1 million in 3 months or some shit. Not much worse than Beatles!
Oh, I thought it was around GH:VH numbers. This new game might break GH:VH numbers eventually, but more likely they will do ~100k WW.

I have a really hard time believing that they will do anywhere neat 100k.. depends on their marketing budget.

Dookie on guitar makes me want to quit music games, but what I've played of American Idiot is decently enjoyable. Jesus of Suburbia even has some good ho-po chains!

For the price that retailers paid for it, its hardly a flop

I thought so too. However, if it is not a placeholder, that would mean no full band or guitar bundle which is unrealistic.
I'm way too lazy to look up a source but I'm 90% sure at some point it was said that they would not be doing a RB3 full band bundle, not directly at least. I think that's the idea behind having Mad Cats or whoever do the instruments this time around. I don't really recall RB ever having a guitar and game bundle? I could be wrong though. I could definitely see HMX only put out the game and then a game and keyboard bundle.

WW though, not just NA. I'll be buying one once the price drops enough, so only 99,999 other copies need to be purchased :lol

I don't understand, were you people expecting it to not be terrible on guitar?

once again, game should have been Black Sabbath: Rock Band

So it would have sold 50k copies? For better or worse, Green Day is still relevant and the game will sell fairly well.

Rented GD:RB from my local Hastings, they also included the instruction book and the code to export all the songs is on the back :D SCORE!!!!!!!

You're fucking high if you think a Sabbath game would sell 50k. VH was given away for free and still sold more than that.

Ozzy Osbourne? yea, completely irrelevant! PS, you're dumb.

Holy shit activision...I like this, yay DeadMau5
where's the ps3 love. :/

One of my platinums was Star Wars so I'm definitely getting that one.

I think 90% of DJ Hero customers suffered the same syndrome as me; first think the game is awesome, 3 days later it begins to get boring...at the end of the week, it is over....

I loved DJ Hero the first time I played it...one week later I felt that I spent to much in this game...another week later I was desperately looking for somebody to buy it from me.

I will never, ever buy it again, so Im completely indiferent to the sequel...despite it being a good game after all.

Im pretty sure most of DJ1 owners feels like this.

and...

RB3 Oct 31??? noooooooooo!!! What an anticlimatic way to know this...and it looks like an eternity from now!
