The only reason I'd think it's blue is that it works like bass. Notice that all the band players have their combo up to four. Thus, one can assume that all of them haven't missed shit and have hit a "Band groove". That's why it's probably blue.

It doesn't look silly. It looks really slick when you're playing bass and have a bass groove. The overdrive is also less yellow, which works better. I still like the transparent black though. I have no problem with it.
 
If the highway is blue and not transparent at all, one of my biggest problems with RB2 is solved. Please god don't be transparent again.
 
Come to think of it, I never really paid any attention to it. You could have said it wasn't transparent and I might've believed you. What's the problem anyway? Do you think a character's belt buckle is a note or something?

The only music video I have problem with is the one where it's all dark and all those psychedelic effects pop out. It's really cool to look at, but when you're playing, it seriously hurts your eyes when you're focused on the notes.
 
It's only a big problem in multiplayer since the highways are so small. It makes me look like a scrub when I play online.

well, that and funky ass scroll speed in multi as well.
 
Looks awesome, can't wait to try out the keyboard.

Though what is up with the spanish song? I thought only GH put that kind of shit on disc?

I see no reason to complain about the addition of a Spanish Rock song. It's silly considering Rock Band 1 has that fucking Timmy & The Lords of the Underworld song.

I love all types of music, but my taste stops at trying to sing songs in different languages. Not even hier kommt alex gets a free pass. Slurring tones is just boring....

And yes I know this is narrowminded.

considering the size of the set list, a few songs in other languages aren't going to be that big of a deal.
 
Then play those songs on guitar, drums, or the addition of the newly announced keyboard!

You don't know how long I've been waiting for some Spanish Rock to hit the game. And it's Juanes so my family and friends already know the song and are going to love it. There is nothing wrong with variety at all.
 
So, with the launch of RB3, and the advent of Rock Band Platform |OT| v2.0 (or is that v3.0 now?) how do we retire this beast?

Also, if shag wants to do the OP, I'd say go for it...but if he wants help, I'd be all for collaboration (had fun with the Beatles one).

I'd say chances of that are none...unless you're talking about the basic keyboard role of a simple doubling of the guitar part, in which case, it might happen
 
Well, I think a new thread would be pretty cool. As much as I love this thread (and I really do), I think a new thread would bring in newcomers and it'll help if the OP is always updated. Although, couldn't a mod just rename this thread and move Birdie's original post somewhere else so that someone else can take over as the OP? We're going to have to discuss this when the game's almost out! And this is the platform thread so anything Rock Band does go in here. With a new thread title name, there wouldn't be a need for a new thread.

"To Begin With..." has been archived....I could easily see this one being archived (but should get the "whining about rock band thread" appended back onto its name) and we move to a new one, with a comprehensive four-post OP.

Hmmm...that's a thought...if Shag wants to do the OP...can I have the first or second response to put a track list? I wouldn't mind doing a short TISDOSE style write-up for each track...
Hell, if I'm really ambitious, I could also do that for a selection of tracks from RB's history, since it would be a new platform thread.



Hey, the Xev get-well fund...anyone want to all go in on a RB3 realtar and keyboard for him? Just seems like it'd be fitting from us....

Just for the record RE: the drum stuff, I personally observed the behavior I described with a friend's RB2 kit, and I saw a bunch of posts describing the same problem on a music enthusiast site wanting to adapt RB drums into fake MIDI controllers. Looking at the code of his thing, he has an isCymbal flag and a function that converts things that register as pad hits into cymbal hits depending on something (presumably that flag), so I'm still not willing to say I was wrong :lol

I was just talking about a rare occurrence that HMX most likely wouldn't even care about, but it would still be an issue. I actually run into the issue (although it's clearly software-based in this case) when I play with my RB drums because any time I hit two pads at the exact same time I get cymbal sounds from all the RB Wii versions
 
huh...I had seen semi-shots of the RB3 guitar before, and mistakenly thought it was a Tele, but turns out it's a Mustang...

I think I'm ok with that....I still would have preferred the realtar to be a Tele, but I guess the Strat is just too iconic.

why don't you just get one of the realtars...the less-real one won't be too expensive...

Not interested at all in the realtar. Just want a new PS3 plastic guitar that doesn't have a shitty strumbar and won't break after a couple months of use.

I'm probably just gonna get a GH5 one.

My description of the problem isn't what happens in the Wii games, it's the output to computers. I was just giving an example of what the problem causes if it gets triggered :D

Well, if you're looking at the GH5 one, I can't see why you wouldn't want the spaceship...it's like the ultra-awesome totally metal drawings I used to do in homeroom.
