Hey so I'm sorry to ask but any word actual "game things" ?

Like:

making playlist?
Playing a song with just guitars/drums/other instruments?
Drop in drop out during songs
etc?

The things that made GH5 "innovative"
Drop in, drop out are there, as well as changing difficulty on the fly. Songs with missing instruments already exist...playlists, not sure of, but there are serious music library organizing tools (like 'show only 80s metal')

What is Dave's spin going to be now? "But but but GH:WoR has 94 songs and RB3 has 83. Activision is providing better value for the consumer"

Wait what, Dead End Friends? Fucking shit, I just read Them Crooked Vultures and thought fucking ace, HMX. How could you choose any other song than Scumbag Blues for RB3?

TCV full album DLC believe.

Also, Dave, what happened to TCV being GH exclusive? :lol :lol :lol

It's also interesting that besides Hendrix, they don't have any of their other exclusive acts announced as of yet. I'm sure the game will have songs by AC/DC, The Who (made for the entire setup so soooooo much) and Green Day, but what will they be?

Love Reign O'er Me (or 5:15).

I know that but I would LOVE playlist and to able to save them, now every time I have to select the same songs out the extreme long list that I have every time again and again and again.

Drop in drop out is GOOD and changing difficulty is also a great addition !!!

I might weep actual tears if I ever got the chance to play the keyboard on that song.
Rock Band: The Who with full Tommy and Quadrophenia. They just waited for the keyboard release. I'd buy the shit out of that.

Well, they did make it clear that song navigation will be greatly enhances, and that scrolling through a megalist wasn't a viable option anymore. So hopefully that will include player created and saved set lists.

Ridley327 said:
Yep; you can play this game just the same as you can now, just with the addition of keyboard.

Love it. Love the setlist options, new WT modes, etc. Who knows if I will ever play pro mode, but it is nice to know that this game could last for-fucking-ever if I choose. GOTF, truly.

AMUSIX: How are they going to use pro mode with existing DLC?

So hyped for RB3. Will probably buy keyboard bundle.

Also, "Dead End Friends" is probably the worst choice for a TCV song. Hopefully they got that out of the way for the full album. Pretty disappointing.

Maybe for the last 6-12 months, Hmx has been secretly adding the pro mode to the dlc, so that it'll work in the RB3 engine?
m glad Archie wasn't around for the reveal. I have no reason to try and spin anything, dickhead >:(
:lol :lol :lol

I thought the GH:WoR spin was YOUR job? :D

But really, the spin is obvious (and entirely true): this stuff may be great to grab press and create buzz, and the new features will hopefully work properly and be fun, but the (potential) millions that determine whether the game is going to be a success or not play Medium Guitar and aren't gonna give a shit about a $200 realtar or a mini-keyboard; it's entirely possible, if not likely, that the amped-up "more" of traditional gameplay GH6 is (one would hope) providing will be better for them and more to their tastes.

I mean, you can't rule out the possibility of it becoming a fad (seriously, a Pet Rock??), but I remember the hyperbole surrounding HMX's announcement of Beatles, and we saw how badly that did compared to those expectations.

Nothing in the files people have been ripping from Wii would imply that (unlike, say, harmonies, which were found in 3 Green Day songs (and only 3 Green Day songs)

I like the way they implemented the keyboard and the shifting. Time will tell if it's enough to re-invest in this game, as I haven't bought DLC in months.

Just watched the video. Everything looks amazing (shades of Frequency and Amplitude when the keyboard moved positions), HMX said everything I wanted to hear about their respect for the time and money investment of consumers, and the new graphics engine looks great. Small complaint: the blue highways are distracting.

I now seriously wonder why I was fearful HMX wouldn't deliver the goods. Day 1. GH destroyed.

Good points, but stop shitting on the parade. :D

Agree 100 percent rock band 3 sounds fantastic but not "reinvigorate the music genre worthy"

Ahh I had no idea people were doing that with the dlc already. It's possible it's buried in there and no one can see it but I highly doubt existing dlc will work:(

lol @ the fear from Grecco, Dave and Remfin. It's ok. GH:WoR is still going to be released. Now GH7 on the other hand. :-/

That's what retroactive patches are for. :D

I just realized something. I struggled playing 'I Love Rock and Roll' in GH1. Now I get to struggle all over again in realtar mode. :lol

The Limited Edition of the game comes with a bottle of Whiskey so you can really sing Break on Through.

Everything shown/talked about is awesome.

It would be one hell of a patch!

I'd rather they retroactively patch Expert+ and master audio for drum fills.

"Patching" in the vague sense could alter/add charting (GH5 technically loads the WT DLC but has separate animation/chart files you had to download in order to make WT stuff compatible). Keyboard, there's not really any way to update old songs without completely changing the audio files, that I can think of.

Archie, you're actually gonna buy a realtar? Your poor teeth :(

I am floored! What a way to start the day!

I was gonna come in here and talk in depth about the MuteMath show last night (which was pretty amazing). And how much the vocalist looks like October (he's got an October haircut now), and how the drummer was fucking amazing. But I'll leave it at that.

RB3 is looking insane! I haven't heard much of the 2000's stuff, so I'll have to give that a listen today. I'm with Name in hoping there's a lefty realtar option available. Otherwise, no sale from me.

If we're moving to a new thread (I'm torn on that), I'd be more than happy to collaborate with AMUSIX and whoever else wants in on it. I'd just like the OP so that I can easily keep it updated. I know I can do that now with BenBirdie and he'll paste it in here, but that's a pain in the ass extra step, and also I have to compose my posts outside of vB in a .txt file, which is another pain in the ass.

With this news, I'd imagine the floodgates are going to open and the news is going to start pouring out. This next week is going to be so great! And it's going to make the wait until October (the month) fucking horrendous!

Waiting for you to show up, Shag. MS press conference should be AMAZING!

Setlist is awesome so far.

EDIT: There had better be separate highway scrolling speeds!

Really? What would then, in your opinion?
Nothing unortunately the music game genre is on a down trend adding more expensive plastic and harder modes is awesome
for fans of the genre but not worthy of the hyperbole

I see the pro mode and new instruments as growing the genre. To each his/her own.

I tried to learn the real guitar about 2 years ago and failed miserably due to the fact that there are no local tutors and noninteractive online lessons aren't very good. If I am able to learn some rudimentary guitar skills from playing RB3, then the game instantly becomes a killer app for me and I will pay whatever price needed to get it.

I am legitimately hyped for pro mode because it will teach me a real life skill.

There are no local tutors? Seriously? You must live in total buttfuck nowhere.

The closest tutors would be ~40 miles away. And yeah, I live in the middle of a pissant nowhere town in south Georgia. Whaddya expect?

There's 15 tutors within 20 miles of me, apparently. I guess I expected you not to live in a third world country.

The realtar stuff is going to be so insignificant in the grand scheme of things. When it comes to Pro Mode it's the keyboard and drums that are going to have any significant take up.

I'd love to destroy you on Pro guitar as you destroy me on RB guitar. But I won't buy a RB Realtar, maybe I'll get one cheap in 2 years or something :/

I can't play chords IRL. I have a guitar right next to me, I'm useless. My fingers seem too short of stubby or something.

At least I can play some stuff on bass *plays A Day In The Life for the 5000th time because it's easy*

You won't need to play "full" chords, anyway. Most stuff in rock music are your basic power chords with a solo and/or guitar riff.

The problem I see with the pro mode are the solos. You can't do that RB style (randomly pressing buttons and struminng) if you're bad. You will fail in no time on that real thing. A Weezer/Foo song, no problem. But try playing some sick Metallica solo, you have like no chance at all and that'll be the case for 99% of the players that buy that thing.

But I hope there's a practice mode where it says you how to place your fingers and when to change a chord, etc. That would be really awesome and I'd maybe even buy that thing just to learn some more complex songs. But I somehow doubt that as it would be very time-consuming for HMX to program that for every song or even only the songs on disc.

I, ahvostik, am mother-fucking speechless.

I feel like I'm going to cry.

tears of joy.

I'll move back in to my mom's house to afford this (not really)... but... o.m.g.

I wish I could watch the video here at work... my headphones cord isn't long enough.

It there are achievements for "realtar", and no lefty version available, I will RAGE! The existing plastars, while not optimal, are perfectly playable by lefties. A realtar wouldn't due to the strings. FFUUUU!
