I'm really looking forward to their real guitar
fuck realtar meme
but it all depends on the price. I'll probably get it eventually, no matter what. I might just have to go with the half version and get the pro version down the line. I'd like to get the real version first though.

Then true RB3 pros will be better than the actual pros now!

Either that, or they'll be completely dependent on the screen like me. I can't memorize any songs and play them completely without looking at the screen. Hell, I can't even play a repeated pattern of notes without seeing it on screen.

I just figured out how MS will win E3.

*lights dim*

"Hey hey mama said the way you move, gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove."

*cue guy playing Black Dog on realtar*

Instant E3 victory.

I need to bring a change of clothes to work just in case that happens.

Even better: have someone play his own songs.

Like Steve Vai playing Halo Theme on stage.

Just caught up: Amazing stuff. I love the new song rating system (goodbye Foo Fighters!!), and the fact that it no rewinds for pauses. Pro-mode looks stunning, but I doubt I will ever play it as I don't want to buy a real guitar (that guitar gif is shocking). I don't like the "loose window" for trills, although I will be able to beat "The Trooper" now. :lol I especially like the fact that you don't really need anything new besides the game and keytar to get the "normal" experience. Very happy with the announcements so far.

If they still have more mindblowing information saved for E3...wow.

I love that people are looking at that gif and writing off pro-mode as being totally niche because of how impossible it looks. It's not like you select Pro and it instantly throws a shredding solo at you and then laughs in your face when you fail and procede to piss all over your dreams.

I'd like someone to make a gif of pro mode "I Love Rock and Roll", please.
It is niche stuff though. You can't realistically expect a large number of the RB3 owners to even consider guitar Pro.

Drums and keyboard, on the other hand, is fine. It uses existing hardware and is a logical continuation of skills already developed. Guitar Pro has nothing to do with expert guitar, and it's got a bigger barrier to entry than any other game mode.

I'll agree with that. On the flipside though I only play lower-tier songs on Expert and I'm looking to buy the real guitar version and play in Pro mode. Just because what they've shown of the Pro mode looks insane, I highly doubt the lower tier songs will be like that. There has always been a ramp up in difficulty and for now I'll assume that Pro mode is the same. This also doesn't take into account all of the tutorials they've hinted at being in the game already.

There'll be improved cymbals for RB3 :D

• Rock Band 3 Wireless PRO-Cymbals Expansion Kit – Universal

Compatible with all wireless Rock Band drum kits, the Wireless PRO-Cymbals Expansion Kit features three newly designed Rock Band 3 cymbals which have been re-engineered for quiet operation. Fully supporting the Rock Band Pro mode where the cymbals represent Hi-Hat, Crash and Ride, the cymbals can also be used in standard game modes for all Rock Band software. Improved from the Rock Band™ 2 cymbals, the new PRO-Cymbals boast quieter sound with noise-dampening rubber covering the full surface area of the cymbal. The PRO-Cymbals also feature enhanced responsiveness, essential when playing in Rock Band Pro mode. In addition, the redesigned Rock Band 3 cymbals now permanently rest at a pre-defined 10° angle, better positioned for accurate play. The PRO-Cymbals are also available as part of the Rock Band 3 Wireless Drum and Cymbal Kit (sold separately).

MSRP: $39.99

Yessss. It will be mine, although playing bass on that tiny thing is a bit silly.

I hope they have some sort of freestyle option where you can play on Realtar or Halftar and hear/record stuff. Not in a GHTunes style way, just for your own amusement.

Is that new?

"Activision is proud of the direction we are taking in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. We feel that it is important that the consumer not be forced to buy additional, and expensive, new peripherals to get the full gameplay experience. Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock also promises to deliver an epic story mode with an array of interesting challenges and a setlist that will challenge even the most enthusiastic players."

I guess this is why you don't need to look down at the guitar in Pro mode..

Stephanie Myers: We don’t want to go into too much detail about that, but it’s essentially fret-sensing technology for your fingers. And it shows up in real time on the screen, so you can look at the screen and see where your left-hand fingers are.

That better be right-hand fingers too, you fucking hand-racists!

I'm still worried about screen clutter. I primarily play RB multiplayer on my friend's old 25 inch SDTV so I think things are going to be pretty cramped.

You'll need to look down if you never played guitar before, though. Frets getting smaller, different strings, it's a gigantic difference to RB/GH guitars.

GH is for SDTVs. Rock Band is for the cool kids with HDTVs!

"Guitar Hero drums have always charted cymbals, so this latest attempt by the competition to catch up to our feature set is no surprise. With Guitar Hero 5, we introduced many of the innovations now being used in that other game, and with Warriors of Rock we're continuing to innovate to bring the best possible experience for players, without trying to nickel and dime them with multiple new hardware releases. Warriors of Rock is the ultimate in everything 40 million plus people have loved about Guitar Hero since it debuted, and with a shreading setlist and revolutionary new quest mode, Warriors of Rock continues to define the music game genre."

Fuck, beaten by Archie.

So who else is hoping the DLC until October isn't stuff they actually want?

Harmonix should let us know when stuff becomes forward compatible with the new feature set, because I don't know if I can justify buying songs now when they're going to be fairly muted in RB3.

With this and Natal keeping track of our body movements, we can be on the virtual stage!

Just imaging, we could all do the crab together!!!

Well they already said the RB3 dlc isn't going to be backwards compatible. So wouldn't that probably mean nothing is going to be forward compatible also? In regards to pro mode, etc. obviously...

Same! I have a feeling though that after E3, most everything will be forward compatible. They just won't put in keyboard songs until Nov. :P So GnR should be the first Album DLC they release the same day RB3 comes out. BELIEVE!

I don't think I have been this hyped for something since I was a little kid knowing I was getting the NES for Christmas. :D

HMX have fucking delivered. I cannot wait until the MS press conference.
