Even though it's visually similar, a RB gold star is so much better (in a gameplay way) than a GH one. So it's all fine.GM Bullfrog said:Maybe they don't want to rip off all of Neversoft's innovations ... :lol

I was really wanting to learn guitar and piano, but didn't think normal means of learning those instruments would work for me. But maybe RB3's pro mode is what I was looking for. As for Pro mode drums, I'm always wanting to hit where a cymbal would be, just from my small amount of time spent on real kits.
I haven't had the time to discuss the Pro mode stuff with Bebedora. I'm not sure what she'll think. But she did just by a full sized keyboard a few weeks ago. I'm thinking it'd be too big to play with in RB3.
Cahill said:Random bit: Anyone playing drums in pro mode should be required to have one of their cymbals 9 feet off the ground when playing Panic Switch for authenticity.

Agree, i hate the way GH does it.....Having it score based is so much better. Ive got gold stars even with a 98%, if i miss one note in GH its "sorry you suck no GS for you"TheGreatDave said:Even though it's visually similar, a RB gold star is so much better (in a gameplay way) than a GH one. You'd assume so. It's dumb.Sp3eD said:Where are the leaderboards fitting on that new select screen? in the more info button?
If gold just meant FC, you could have three gold stars, lol.TheGreatDave said:You'd assume so. It's dumb.
In an ideal world, there would be six stars, which turn gold if you get an FC.
Que?TAJ said:If gold just meant FC, you could have three gold stars, lol.

Sp3eD said:Maybe on the PS3 or Wii, but almost sure that it won't work on 360.

EDIT: for PS3

Ahh, yes yes.TAJ said:... like if you FC'd Silver on drums.
yeah, it has been a bad match so far...you should have watched South Africa vs Mexico. That was great.NameGenerated said:I'm watching Uruguay v.s France.

Because of the 17 fret vs. 22 (or however many their realtar has) thing? I'd imagine it would be like the keyboard thing, where they show you the chart shifting along the neck.AMUSIX said:I want to see them show the chart differences that happen in pro mode when you have a real

Rock Band 3 MIDI PRO-Adapter Xbox 360 / PlayStation 3 / Wii
Designed for use exclusively with Rock Band 3, the MIDI PRO-Adapter allows musicians to use their real MIDI keyboards or MIDI drum sets to play Rock Band 3. Plugging directly into the console via USB, the MIDI PRO-Adapter works as an interface between the console and MIDI instrument, converting the MIDI messages into console controller data which the game translates into on screen action. The MIDI PRO-Adapter features a velocity sensitive adjustment for MIDI drums designed to reduce cross-talk during play. A full D-Pad and standard gaming controller buttons are located on the PRO-Adapter to deliver seamless console integration and navigation of the game menus. Ships with a removable clip, allowing MIDI PRO-Adapter to be attached to a belt, or rest on a table top or similar flat surface.
MSRP: $39.99

I meant shifting up and down, (in the background) as opposed to side to side on keyboard.GM Bullfrog said:Don't think there will be any shifting ... You still have 6 "strings" on the half tar (The width of the highway), just not all of the frets.

For those who are curious, the PS and Wii versions of the instruments are the exact same except for the Vendor and Product identifiers; you literally change the value of 8 bytes in the RB2 executable on the Wii and the PS instruments work flawlessly.
DLC that comes out after this announcement won't work with Pro guitar, either, though... Just sayin'. I really, really wish we weren't getting GnR now.corkscrewblow said:WOW STOP WHINING OMG CAN U B HAPPY ABOUT NE THING? HOLY SHYT IM PUTTIN U ON IGNORE AHHHHHHH

I keep my ear to the ground around the people doing all the hacking on the Wii version (not pirating or cheating...actual hacking), and do a little bit of stuff myself...Cahill said:*squints* What the...? You seem to get these odd little bits of info, dontcha?
You need a dpad for CAC/Band editing/Name input which I believe is forced in career mode or whatever. Also actually quitting the game.jayb said:well you don't have to use the d-pad and buttons to navigate with the guitar or drums right now, so I don't think that would be an issue to navigate with the keyboard keys.
They said in multiple interviews last night that the halftar would just be nerfed for the missing frets. Kind of like using an RB drum set in GH. It just moves frets 18-22 back over to 13-17 (or something along those lines).TAJ said:Because of the 17 fret vs. 22 (or however many their realtar has) thing? I realize that, but that's not what it seemed like Charron was saying.Terrordactyl said:it's a standard 14" crash, he only uses it for accents, it's not like its a crash ride that he plays 8th notes on.

TAJ said:I realize that, but that's not what it seemed like Charron was saying.
sorry, what I meant was that there will be differences in the charts to account for the different number of frets. Essentially, instead of a trill played on the 18th and 19th frets of the b string, it gets transposed to the 13th and 14th fret of the e string.GM Bullfrog said:Don't think there will be any shifting ... France qualified to WC in controversial manners....they are not good at all, and Uruguay is usually a team with strong defense and temper. You could not expect much from this match...if either team scored a goal, it would be over.NameGenerated said:What a shitty game that was. But GM Bullfrog has a good point that it might be something other than MIDI to USB.
