New 6 minute video focusing on the PRO Guitar Mode and the half-tar.

picture_1_fr8925.png

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AAy-NGf2VQ&feature=channel

I doubt most of you have seen this as it only hit youtube a little over an hour ago. I know it looks like the same USA Today vid you've all seen but it's not.

You should definitely check it out if you're at all interest in pro guitar mode.

***Edit
he keeps talking about "trainers"

Every song has its own trainer

geez - so apparently every one of the 83 on-disc songs is going to have an accompanying training video or something? intensely amazing. HMX is god cf.

I'm expecting full pro-mode DLC to be at least $6 a track going forward after RB3 (ESPECIALLY) if every song has a training video with it. I would definitely be willing to spend $6 on some songs because I'd try to learn them on guitar, bass, drums, keys, everything. Honestly - it's surprising to me that the RB3 software is only going to be $60.

lego david bowie

just kidding, actually I watched this for the first time too =)

damn I dont play guitar but Im so interested in buying this.

Im sure of one thing....no iPhone 4 this year =(

please don't own me if this is fifteen years old

awww, man... no iPhone 4 Pedro?

Isn't it crazy how both the iPhone 4 and Rock Band 3 were announced/unveiled in the same week?

it's like - wtf!? give my wallet some breathing room!! But in all seriousness - I'm planning on pre-ordering an iPhone 4 on Tuesday and getting it on day one (June 24th).

RB3 won't be out until October 31 at the earliest so I'm going to put aside ~ $80 a month so I'll be able to afford new drums, the half-tar, and the keyboard/software bundle.

Pedro - what's your facebook name / real name?

I want to friend/stalk you.

only because it looks like you uploaded these pics to facebook which I think is awesome.

My wallet already hurts from the good games this year, now toss in the iPhone 4 ( for me and the wife each) and Rockband 3.......ugh

I hear people worrying about having to tune the real-tar for different songs, but don't you think Harmonix/MadCatz/Whatever will go the PowerGig-route, i.e. you'll insert a piece of plastic between the strings and pick-up that mutes the sound? Seems like an easy way to avoid the hassle of dropping the tuning.

See here: http://www.giantbomb.com/powergig-guitar-tutorial/17-2594/
Dude good call! Or if they don't there's no reason you can Macguyver your own.

man... if I was an investor behind PowerGig I would be shitting myself over this recent Rock Band 3 news.

how much is the PowerGig guitar anyway?

No clue. I don't think they've said.

Another thing is that they've focused so much on the instrument, but the game itself could be terrible. It's still a video game, so the software has to be good to make it compelling to gamers. From what they've shown, the game looks like ass, imo. I'd be shocked it the software/features/design etc. were anywhere close to that of RB3.

I suspect some of the cats at PowerGig started to pen resignation and/or suicide letters minutes after the RB3 reveal. I feel sorry for them though, because their hearts seem to be in the right place, but theres no way in hell that game will be a success.

the game is going to bomb and no one will buy/play/think it at all. ever. (unless they're talking about Eric Clapton)

$179.99 for the guitar and game wouldn't be so bad... if the game didn't look like it was made in 2005. Also... the fact that they're using color coded frets doesn't suggest they have any idea what they're doing.

I kinda want to see the PowerGig people's patent portfolio. If they've got the right stuff they may not even need a game to be profitable, just start lobbing lawsuits.

If they don't have patents, then yea, they're fucked Rock Revolution tier.

There's some gameplay footage on gametrailers -> http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2010-power-gig/101032. I don't think RB3 has got anything to worry about.

I wonder if Clapton will consider coming over to RB3 now that PRO guitar mode is in the pipeline.

orrrr maybe he signed an exclusivity contract with powergig... which would suck.

I'm hoping it's like what AMUSIX said that hopefully Clapton being exclusive doesn't mean we can't get stuff from Cream and Derek and the Dominos.

It looks like you have to know how to play guitar already, and have the songs memorized, to get anything out of the game.

HMX most likely started developing their realtar stuff way before the PowerGig people, lol.

Hi Pedro, yes you can use the same one, I don't really have anything better... yet.

Wat. I thought you were making one when RB3 came out.

Do you have my pic Pedro? I don't know if I have too many better ones than the guitar/tampon combo. There's also the Borat one and the Bear Jew one I posted. I don't really care what goes up there though it's up to you.

Well, the game is touting Layla as one of its premier songs, so if Clapton is exclusive, Derek and the Dominos may be off-limits as well.

Which would be a huge shame, because I think that song would be perfect for the Rock Band 3 disc. At least there's always DLC.

You know $179.99 isn't too bad price-wise. It might be worth picking up once the price starts dropping hard just to mess around with a "real" guitar. Don't have an amp so I guess that kills it, unless they have an in-game fee-play mode.(they should)

I'm still torn about how realistic I want to go with these games. I'd love to be able to play real guitar, but just don't have the time to devote to it. I barely have time to play games anymore. I'm thinking about picking up the RB3 half-tar. For $150 it's not too hefty of an investment to way to see how far I want to go. Heck, I recently spent $90 on one of those full-scale wooden fender RB guitars. (amazon daily deal) If I feel like I'm getting the hang of it and want to go further, I might as well get a real guitar.

I think a lot of it will depend on whether or not they retro-fit the Maiden songs with pro-mode, because there first thing I'd want to play on real guitar would be some Maiden riffs.

Wow, that new video is awesome. Looks like that not only will the Pro mode be challenging for players who are used to expert, but having lessons for every song means that it'll probably teach you how to actually play an instrument, and not just the basic stuff. Amazing.
