Ubi Soft's conference was well on its way of surpassing MS's for sheer shittiness.

Then Rayman was shown off and I forgave them for all of their sins.

Holy fucking shit, ReWrite tell me you watched last night's Boondocks.
Yup. It was awesome. Season 3 has not disappointed at all. So good.

Isn't rewrite attending e3? We should get some impressions from him if so.
yup, i'll make sure to play some Rock Band 3...assuming there isn't a shitload of people wanting to play. bounchfx is also gonna go!

Rayman looked beautiful by the way. Best thing ever and it's made by five people! Amazing.

Still 100x better than shitty Microsoft's conference.

Driver...so whenever you're in an accident you're in a coma and have the ability to shift to different cars... WAT :lol

Name and I would be super-appreciative if you could ask how they're going to handle Pro mode guitar for lefties. If you ask someone that, I'll love you forever.

Man, I was excited about getting home from work and seeing news from the supposed Harmonix conference/concert, only to be let down epically with no news waiting. BOO!

I also ask this too because I am a lefty and want equal rights for those of us who can't meld into right-handed society as well.

Green Day Rock Band SUCKS. Whoever decided to make the vocal pie navy blue needs to be fired.

Also, UBI has had the best E3 conference so far. Go figure.

I don't see what the issue for the vocal pie is, who really watches that thing fill? As long as I can clearly see I haven't broken my multiplier it's ok.

Sometimes you get really close but can't see that half a pixel difference between breaking the combo or not.

OK I can see that, I only sing when drumming or playing guitar so I don't stare at it. I'm more occupied with the other chart usually.

They're completely right in that Harmonix are basically living out a vanity project with Pro Mode. Good for us, but it's very much going against every indication the market has ever given.
What indications? I know that the hardcore, hardcore music games dont sell as well, but to combine the teaching method with the core gameplay hasnt been done before as far as I can tell. And why should they release it separate from RB 3 according to that article? What is combining them doing to detract from the regular game?

Crag Dweller said:
No news about RB3 today?

E3 doesn't officially start until tomorrow. Today there were a few conferences... Microsoft's focused only on XBOX 360 exclusives so we didn't see anything from Harmonix outside of "Dance Central"

Since the show floor opens up tomorrow and MTV Games has a rather sizeable booth on the floor we should see a few "hands on impressions" kind of things and maybe a few more announced tracks (if we're lucky)

also: Gamespot is supposed to have a live video stream of a demo with RB3 on Thursday at 10AM PST.

People want to play along to songs without having to put any effort in to improving. The genre is filled with people playing on medium and never moving up. People don't want to learn an instrument, they want to play with a toy.

Okay, will do! I swear, nothing better come up that will make me miss E3...

There's a PS3 version.

They can still do that.

This is all under the assumption that they didn't go forth with the idea of Pro mode without proper market research. Do you honestly think that they've just been working on the game for two years, without any real world input?

Let me state this another way: you don't put out another set of expensive peripherals if you don't think that there was a good chance that it wouldn't take off.

Market research is meaningless.

CSB, Child of Eden is on PS3.

I know. Which is why I said Pro Mode is a vanity project, not Rock Band 3.

EA was pretty good and Ubi was decent but m$ was just god awful. Worst conference in recent memory.
Yeah they're fucking blowing it I think, no games that I want to play that are exclusive. I figured they had something but I guess not. Their first party exclusive selection is poor compared to sonys. I will get fable though I have fun with those games. Natal was a might buy, now its a probably never buy. Its like they put all their recources into abandoning their current fanbase to convert wii owners.

Once again, for the scoreboard:

fake plastic instruments: AWESOME
motion controls of any kind: FUCK THIS
learning to play real instruments through a videogame:arrogant vanity project that no one wants

Don't change, guys.
Added another for you.

Ridley327 said:
Child of Eden is a pointer-based game, which is plenty precise on all of the motion control setups that are out there.

I edited.

Honestly, I can't imagine anything that's using my fucking hand as an input device being precise enough. Move, I assume it's fine on.

I think a camera can follow a hand just fine. Add anything else and I'm sure it's the end of days, but a hand hardly seems impossible.

All three motion control setups do use cameras in some way; some (the Wii) more clever than others.

Well you have to flick (or something) to shoot. It just seems like a recipe for disaster. Especially given Natal's 200ms or so of lag.
