Once again, for the scoreboard:

fake plastic instruments: AWESOME
motion controls of any kind: FUCK THIS

Don't change, guys.
Some people would rather play games with a controller, whodathunkit?

and for Rez I prefer to use an arcade stick, I'm sure Child of Eden will be the same. It's more precise than anything imo.

Big fucking earthquake here in San Diego...waiting to see just how big...but it lasted for quite a while.

Hopefully the house doesn't collapse and I die.

huh...5.9...not that big, I guess...just effective.

Well you have to flick (or something) to shoot. It just seems like a recipe for disaster. Especially given Natal's 200ms or so of lag.

Child of Eden scarcely looks fast-paced, which you would think is a result of lag like that, but Rez was hardly a speedy shooter as well.

I'm not one to bemoan alternative control methods in the first place, largely because it's the software that dictates their use and/or misuse. I don't think anyone is crapping on Kinect because it's bad hardware; they're crapping on it because they're touting a Sonic game as one of its marquee titles.

Motion controls are controllers, you silly billy.

I felt it here too. I got dizzy again. :(

Why are you arguing that a controller isn't a superior interface to a $150 video camera? Sometimes I think you just like arguing with me, bro :(
He loves you, but he's never man enough to admit it.

The concept just strikes me as something that was designed around the idea of using the camera.

More precise for certain types of games, but for Rez analog is much more precise. Unless of course it got Wiimote functionality. A pointer in that game would be awesome.

I think a camera can follow a hand just fine. Add anything else and I'm sure it's the end of days, but a hand hardly seems impossible.

All three motion control setups do use cameras in some way; some (the Wii) more clever than others.

wtf? The wii doesn't use a camera.

Dude...you are the controller.

this is stickered on a bunch of game journalist's bathroom windows in the hotels they are staying at.

in response to the judgments aimed at HMX's decision to include Pro mode in RB3:
innovation > stagnation

WoR is looking awesome.

Yo Riddler!

CONTROLS – Simple & natural. Designed for standard controllers and Xbox 360’s new Kinect™ controller. The Kinect™ controller adds an extra dimension to the experience as you truly merge into the game, with no physical barriers between the game world and you. Use your body to move the camera, and both hands to lock-on and shoot for a completely new and multi-sensory shooting game experience.

Sounds like I'd have to play Eden standing up. Controller wins again.

Awesome. Just realized I should get quite a bit in trade-in for my system since I'm trading in my HDD, wifi adaptor and system. As long as I get AT LEAST $150 on trade in, I'll be able to get the Slim.

Dude, that is not going to happen. You'll get $75 tops, it's gamestop.

I know. I plan to call them tomorrow to see how much I'll get. If I don't get at least $150, then I won't.

What's the point? Buy something you don't already own instead.[/QUOTE]
See previous "whore" statement.

I really don't think Pro Mode will gain one single more Rock Band customer...what will expand the audience a little will be the keyboard.
It does have me intrigued. I want to see it in action with the guitar.

I don't think there's many people who are going to buy RB3 because they've been waiting for a keyboard. It's more a way to try and return to past levels of revenue while not having the black hole of shitty hardware they have to repair eating all their money.

The aim is to keep people playing the games with gimmicks, so they'll continue buying DLC. The keyboard and Pig Lars exist for the same reason.

Pro Mode definitely won't gain any customers at launch but I think if enough hardcore players get the pro guitar and show it to their friends / family over the Holidays - I think there will be a lot of people (young and old) who would never be interested in a Rock Band game but are now interested in the idea of "playing along / learning" the guitar parts to songs.

it gives the game a point. it's a means to an end (learning an instrument) whereas before the game was an end unto itself. That's it... just a game.

I was really getting tired of HMX's guitar charts being so technical with 5 buttons - it stopped being truly fun for me a while ago. strumming a fake button back and forth repeatedly isn't as fun as plucking a single string real fast or strumming through real chords will be (at least for me).

(I realize I'm not the norm - being someone who has taken lessons on multiple instruments since I was 5)

And that is why I think this one will get a lot of press and have good legs. Of course, I also thought The Beatles would sell a lot better, too.

a friend and I bought two DDR dance pads a long time ago when we were in middle school.

it was a lot of fun.

This looks like it will be fun too. It's too bad all you "rockers" are too hardcore to have a little fun now and then.
