So what I'm guessing
pulling out of my ass
is that the interface for the game only picks up finger position and strum/picking, not actual tone. This would address the whole tuning issue, meaning it will sound like ass through a amp for example on songs with alternate tunings but will still work correctly in the game. Also noticed the guy look at his hand position a few times in that vid ;)

I also like the fact that improv doesn't break your combo.

Where do you know from that improvisation doesn't break the combo? That engadget video doesn't show it at all as he breaks the combo all the time for whatever reason.

That is pretty much what I assumed as well but then it brings up the issue of bending. If it strictly says "8th fret A string" then bending clearly won't work since you can bend to the 10th fret but it'll have no way of knowing that.

Also removing pinch harmonics completely.

Didn't see this posted, but I know JGR and a couple of others are into ska.

The Slackers - Every Day Is Sunday

...is up for playtesting on the RBN site. Probably be at least a month before it's in the store, maybe more if there are problems with the chart.

Ah, thanks, good decision. I also wish they had a special mode for solos where you'd just need to improvise in a certain key because not every guitarist plays a solo exactly like he did on the album.

So here's a link to the mostly crappy video from gamespot yesterday. Although I haven't watched all of it yet.

http://e3.gamespot.com/video/6265935/

The most hilarious thing is at around 2:30 or so, you can see the PowerGig stage right behind the singers. I feel bad for those guys.

EDIT: Just finished watching the whole thing. Doesn't really say anything new.

Plays all of Power of Love
Teasdale talks a little bit about keyboard and pro guitar
Teasdale talks about sorting options
Teasdale talks about how they've completely revamped the CaC (but aren't talking about it at E3)
Teasdale talks about the narrative (with loading the van and rooftop concerts)
Plays all of Bohemian Rhapsody

Pro mode looks incredible. I'm certain it won't teach all the intricacies of the guitar, but it will lay a great foundation to build upon. The only downside is if it instills bad habits that will be difficult to overcome in the future.

That is some awesome news. Thanks for the update. That's two bands off my RBGAF wish list that's in RB thanks to RBN. Let us know if anymore of their songs pop up.

Thanks for the link. I do feel bad for the PowerGig guys, but not that bad considering they have fuckin' Clapton. Did he not hear about RB3?

Is that Bryn from Band Camaro on the left?

EDIT: Jesus, you think they would have practiced, or something. The constant guitar "screep" is fucking annoying.

That's the chick from Abnormality? It's like a HMX "Hall of Fame." :lol

I love the new art style. And a better character creator would be nice.

It's getting to the point that I'm worried about the realtar in all these vids. I know calibration is super critical in these games, but in EVERY video so far, the guitar strum doesn't fire until the gems are practically off the screen.

I guess what I'm saying is I'm not 100% convinced it's a calibration issue anymore. It might be a delay in the fancy guitar mechanics.

I don't understand why they don't...you know...calibrate the fucking game before they play.

Also, dat scrolling speed :shakefist:

I don't like how Pro Mode doesn't tell you exactly where your fingers go for each chord. I guess the point would be to not be an idiot and manage to remember the chords, but this is me :(

Also, loading screens are hot, but wish they lasted for the duration of the load. Maybe it's a pre-release thing.

Cpt. Underpants said the calibration was out on SA.

So then I ask what Dave did. Why aren't they taking the extra five seconds to calibrate this shit before showing it to tens of thousands of people? It took them what, 30-45 minutes to set up for the gamespot live show and none of that was used to calibrate?

I mean I'm a semi-fanboy to this plastic instrument stuff and it's leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

We thought there was in the USAToday video, but in that one someone is on medium and all the scrolls are the same. Bullllshit.

That is serious bullshit. I hate playing with friends who play on medium, or even easy, because of that crap. Maybe they just haven't implemented it yet...

Solution.. Just play multiplayer at Rock Band Club, where 99% of the time everyone's on expert.

I don't think that pro-tar will have lag issues when calibrated properly. My only concern would be if the realtar and standard 5-button guitar need different calibrations and it doesn't save them. Also, that would be totally fucked up in playing in a full-band with the realtar and standard instruments.

I saw a new note rule in effect on that preview part 1 video in "Here I go again" (Also known as guitar hero sustains). Probably going to be keyboard only, but it was a solid blue, and then went to yellow without blue changing.

Hope they add that to guitar.

Realtar and halftar both rely on a midi dongle to connect to the system. That does worry me that calibration will be off in relation to wireless and/or usb connected controllers.

So yeah, it better save separate settings.

Okay. Good to know.
I might have lied about the halftar using midi. This paragraph is written so poorly I can't really tell.

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/109/1098680p1.html

The Fender guitar connects to your console through a midi out. Madcatz, the peripheral maker that is creating the other new guitar controller for Rock Band 3 (the one with a hundred buttons), is creating a midi interface that will act as the middle man between the Fender guitar and your console. The fact that it has a midi out means it can be used as a midi controller in other music software applications.

June 17th.. (?)

“Can’t Be Tamed”
“7 Things”
“Fly on the Wall”
“See You Again”
“See You Again” (Has to be a mistake in the release)

Great. More shit my kid's going to want that she'll then never play - but will certainly pop up in my random setlists.

I don't even know what game you're talking about so I can't guess. Unless this is next week's dlc announcement.
This is actually tomorrow's DLC! Like on 360 tomorrow.

I remember the See You Again song from Disney Sing It. That was pretty fun to sing at least. Wish the other Miley song from that game was in here as well. Maybe it's the last song that they didn't give the name of in the PR.

There is some conspiracy with "Disney" dlc.

Selena in GH = the day I get SMG2, Pantera DLC, and four movies

Miley in RB = the day I get new 360, Transformers, and probably movies I preordered 6 months ago (Death Race 2000?)
