fully agree and even more, if your making fun out of your mates mistakes, you will discourage them even more and chances are even higher that you will loose. Rather encourage them by saying no problem.
If you insult the enemy with a "what a save" when he obviously made a mistake you on the other hand encourage them to be better and beat you. Regardless when and who you insult with this, the looser is you.
I've been using the in-game muting option more lately. I'll let some sarcastic/teasing quick chat comments slide for a while, but if people keep them up I just mute them. I've even had to mute my own teammates when they kept making fun of our opponents.
A dev here said they're considering making team-only chat the default. I have played with some classy opponents who commend good plays regardless of the team, but they're outnumbered by the chat spammers who think they're funny. Really, the majority don't say anything to the opposing team, so changing the default to team-only wouldn't be much different. It would also help in praising my teammates without feeling like I'm rubbing it in the other team's face.
As an alternative, it would be cool to have a team chat modifier. You could assign a button (maybe as an option to replace the R1 push to talk) so when you hold it down and choose quick chat commands, they come out as [TEAM] only regardless of the text.
