Rockstar has remastered every 3D mainline GTA except for one...

Will Rockstar remaster GTA IV?

It's never gonna happen unfortunately.
On the contrary I'm 99% sure that it will happen. But not anytime soon probably unless they are willing to outsource the remaster to an external party with very minimal oversight.

The 20th anniversary is in 3 years. People said Red Dead Redemption 1 would never be remastered/ported, then it suddenly was. Do you see a IV remaster/remake happening?

Edit, I need the thread to be aware of this:

Grove Street Games has been removed from the definitive edition's credit and they no longer associate with each other

The boogeyman you guys fear is gone. We can move on from this and instead focus on the team who remastered RDR 1 as an example moving forward.

What is crazy is that Rockstar approved the work that they did and was released, but I bet Rockstar destroyed the min meetings when the backlash started rolling in. They should be gone for doing what was bad work on restoring those games.

It won't happen, I'm 99% sure

They haven't touched the PSP GTA Stories games by Rockstar Leeds either (and Chinatown Wars.) I actually liked aspects of those better than the originals.

All those are available on Android (and I assume iOS?), so there's that.

GTA 4.... Ahh man the memories with that gem.

It was the first GTA in "next gen" and it's hype felt like GTA 6 level. It got delayed till Spring 2008.

Couple weeks before it's release, it was leaked, someone was streaming it somewhere, yes you could stream in 2008.

But man that game to me looked so realistic. Stunning game. Physics like that had never been seen before in a game. If you stood on a sidewalk in a way, one foot would be on it, the other foot would be lower on the road. Just madness what it did.
GTA IV is amazing from a technical aspect, but holy shit is it a boring game.

That's probably why Rockstar doesn't care too much for remastering it, a lot of the love it gets is very much for the attention to detail, I highly doubt though anyone reminiscing about it has actually played it in the last 5-10 years.

It's absolutely a boring slog to play through, literally almost every mission is just "Hey Niko, fuck you now go do this". And every mission is exactly that, go drive to place (with the hilariously overly boaty vehicle physics), shoot this (with the fucking abysmal shooting mechanics), here's money. On top of removing a ton of the customization options from SA, complete slog of a game to play through. When this game released I remember there was a TON of backlash over it online, reviewers were overrating the shit out of it.

V was a massive improvement gameplay wise in nearly every way, anyone arguing this hasn't actually played IV in a good long while.
