1. Batman is really a boring character
2. The character already had a few great games and has done all that needs to be done.
3. Is Batman the best DC can provide for a game?
4. Make a Legion of Super Heroes game. Back in the day there would be c-tier heroes applying to be members and have stupid-funny powers. They could make a game where you create a character, choose from a list of powers, make a stupid hero name, and then play the game. It could even check that GAAS box for these shitty companies. But the options and creativity could be endless.

1. Batman is probably the most iconic DC character with possibly a tie with Superman.
4. I thought DC already did something like this although an MMO? Could be wrong.

Anyway, I'd take a Batman game over just about any DC hero because there's a ton of possibilities for upgrades/story. Armor, weapon tech, Batmobile upgrades, etc. Because he's not a metahuman, there's also all kinds of options as to why he could fail/die.
Superman is already Superman. Not much can be done to level him up or add progression to him in any way.
Wonder Woman has some possibilities depending on which WW version they utilize. A sword, shield, lasso mechanic can be good with upgrades to those weapons. Is she the flying version of WW or the grounded one.
Green Lantern could be cool too with I guess power ups via the Lantern.
Flash...rather not as he is fairly one trick and how the hell would you pace that game unless it's a Sonic the Hedgehog type game
Aquaman? idk, I guess an Ecco the Dolphin type game might be fun

So yea, the B-man is probably the best they got among the mainline DC heroes. Look at the excitement around the new LEGO Batman game and you can see the ip still has a lot left in the tank.

Well, that's the problem....they keep going back to that well. They need to latch on to maybe some lesser known heroes and make a great game from that. Legion would be great. Batman is fine.... but that has been overdone and he doesn't even have powers. Heck, he was a 'detective' back in the day and just kicked ass.

Marvel took c-tier heroes like Guardians of the Galaxy and Iron Man and took the time to build up the fan base, with comics, movies, TV and games. DC seems to want it all...right now. That is why the DCU failed hard. They wanted to build up the whole backstory and mythos in just a couple years.

Yup, Batman Beyond game would actually make sense now that Kevin Conroy has passed away. Pass the torch to new Batman without it feeling off or forced.
It also lets them do a completely different style and weapon tech. That said, it is more of a risk. The last game was forever ago and the next one doesn't necessarily need to be direct follow up. It will be interesting to see what they do here. As long as it isn't GaaS trash, it should be a preorder for me.

They did try some lesser known heroes, the Suicide Squad, and that didn't go well. After that debacle, you can see why they are going back to a tried and true ip
Edit: Also that other Batman game that didn't have Batman...I forget the name it was so forgettable.

I'm all for a good DC game though, I just don't know what character they would go with. Constantine could be interesting, but he's hardly well known compared to the B-Man.
