Dammit, I won't get to see a single second of the semis. I wonder if I should do a complete media blackout and try to catch the re-air.

My friend attended some early round matches last week and mailed me a gift. Its a full size RG towel, and I'm putting it in my tennis bag to use!

Here comes NBC to ruin the coverage. Get ready for 11am in all time zones bs. So if you are in the Central or West you'll have an hour or more delay in coverage......

Don't sweat it, I bet your two favourite players play another GS semi soon, like never again soon.

Too many unforced errors from Gulbis. His forehand can be pretty crappy.

He needs to drain some more of his hobo-powers.

John Dunbar

correct about everything
the only reason we have to witness this charade is because federer gifted this clown a win. gulbis really has no place past the early rounds.

Yeah, I saw the hawk eye as well. But also, generally, players will often be more generous when they are ahead than not. I have seen Novak concede points like a sportsman and then on other times he'll give nothing even when its obvious that he was in the err. Depends on the match and the opponent, really. Remember that net point between Murray and Djokovic in Miami earlier this year? Djokovic wouldn't have given Murray anything that day, or Nadal either, had it been him on the other side of the net.

Man, where did the confident Gulbis from the last few matches go? His body language is terrible. If only he didn't have as many unforced errors...

here's what even gulbis's coach said before the match:

“Ernests hasn’t a hope against Novak. Djokovic is the favourite here, he’s tried several times before and this time he’ll be the one to lift the trophy at Roland Garros, I’m sure of it. I guarantee you.”

What are Gulbis’ chances?

“He’d need a miracle. Without a miracle there’s no chance. Ernests is playing at a high level. But he’s still 10-15% lower than Djokovic’s average. Novak plays consistently for hours, so 3 or 4 games per set would be incredible for Ernests. I’m already very happy with how the tournament’s gone. Even if Novak has an off-day, the gap is too great, he has more experience. And Djokovic really wants the title.”

One of the best tennis players in the world can do that to you

Yeah, one the qualities of the top ranked players is the way they won't let their opponent play their best game. Federer was famous for this.

here's what even gulbis's coach said before the match:

No way the coach actually believed that. He's just positioning Gulbis as an extreme underdog. Maybe he was hoping Gulbis would play free of expectations that way.

If Gulbis showed the form he displayed against Federer and Berdych, this match could have been competitive.
