Thought Emoji Movie was good. Take that as you will.
What an incredible come back by Murray.

He looked completely 100% done after losing the 4th set.. and then just turned it around.

Epic.. epic comeback.

What the hell happened? I left for a few and when I came back it was already over :/

Monfils was too far behind, too bad, his third and fourth sets were a joy to watch. The Henman references are indeed quite accurate.

I do think Murray has more chances to bother Nadal than him, so I hope this result gives us a entertaining semi final. I really think Nadal is beatable this year, he just had a very peaceful draw until now. Ferrer didn't have enough fuel but he showed the way.

I love Monfils so much, not for the tennis, but for the endless laughing subjects he keeps on offering. (I kid, I love him for the tennis too, when he actually musters the will to play well).

4-6, 6-4, 6-0, 6-1.
You blame that on a lack of stamina?

Not entirely of course, but it felt like he wasn't as energetic in the end, yes, and against Nadal, on clay, it can make a huge difference. Ferrer can beat Nadal by taking the ball early and asphyxiate him, a little bit like Davydenko did in his prime. Today it looked like he just wasn't able to do it at the same rhythm during five sets.

And yeah, I perfectly know it's Nadal and clay we're talking about. It's just interesting to search where his rare weaknesses are.

Yup, it's Nadal on Clay. The problem as it see it is that even if you can find weaknesses in his game then he will notice it, change his game, play at a much higher level, and totally overwhelm you with his insane stamina and persistence.

Sure Murray or Djokovic or maybe even Gulbis might find a way to beat him. Maybe this year he looks slightly less dominant than in some previous years. But I wouldn't bet against Nadal at the French this year.

I think Novak has a decent chance this year if he makes it to the final. Novak also has great stamina and the strategic mind to change up his play, both of which Ferrer lacked. However, Nadal is still the better player on clay and so Novak will have do more than just have good stamina and play smart, he's going to have to go beyond Nadal's play.

As I see it, Murray can bother Nadal, looking at what he did in Rome. I don't see him beating Rafa though : clay isn't his surface and Nadal flies on it.

Djokovic has always a good chance against Nadal, to me he proved several times he has the tactical solutions to defeat him on any surface. He must play very well though, and consistently, during at least three sets. It'll be hard, even for him.

Gulbis is too much of an enigma to tell if he can do it. To me, if he defeats Djokovic, he can beat Nadal too, but I fear the pressure of a first Slam final against the octuple champion would be too much to handle. Then again Wawrinka did it earlier this year, but it was on hard courts and he had more experience at this level of play than Gulbis.

Oooh shit

Iva Majoli (CRO)
Anastasia Myskina (RUS)

Going to watch this for Nastya but Clijsters is cheating vs Majoli

So the final is set. Nadal vs. Gulbis

Murray stands no chance, and while I hate to admit it, neither does Djokovic (OK, he stands a chance but I don't think Gulbis will let him off the hook). Either way, one of my two favorites will be in the final so there's that.

Why so much confidence in Gulbis?

Gonna have to bow to Mimic if Gulbis wins this thing. As much as I hate that he beat Fed, I really want him to win of the 4 that are left.

Why so much confidence in Gulbis?

Biased reason: because he's the greatest tennis talent the world has ever seen? Rational reason: he's a supreme talent and everything seems to be clicking for him right now. Booming serve; superb return of serve (did you see the way he was handling Berdych's serve?); penetrating, effortless ground strokes; a fearless, dominating backhand, a more controlled, less error-prone FH (as weird as it may look); excellent touch; and most importantly: attitude. He doesn't care about the crowd, he doesn't care about his opponent, and he has absolutely nothing to lose. Unless Djokovic is on fire from the word "play", Gulbis is likely to grab an early lead like he has done in all of his matches. Gulbis is not one to be underestimated, especially this time around. I was one of few people who expected him to beat Federer and Berdych, and I expect him to do the same tomorrow (My enter button on my phone's browser isn't working, so you'll have to excuse the formatting)

You mean in the Final? Gulbis is playing Djoker in the Semi

I think the poster meant he/she hopes that Gulbis and Murray will win their semis matches against Djokovic and Nadal, respectively.

No, it just means I was dead tired when I made that post. :p

I thought Gulbis was going to face Murray in the semis for some reason. Oh well, Murray will be out anyway so I am good. I want a Djoko x Nadal final.

Here MIMIC, a friend sent me this

My favorite ones:

“I think all the products are for girls. The body lotions, the creams, the makeup, whatever, is just for girls. Guys should be natural. Of course you have to take care of yourself, you have to go to shower, you know, so you don’t smell bad. The rest is just natural.”

And this one from a little while ago:

“I was really getting pissed to see who’s in the top 100. There are some guys who I don’t know who they are. Some guys, I’m sorry, with respect, they can’t play tennis. I don’t know how they got into the top 100. I think I’m much better than them. It’s a motivation.”

Also, I remember reading that quote about considering retirement. THAT....would suck. I'm glad that he's finally going deeper in majors now.

Also: Gulbis's crazy-looking forehand made me have a realization of my own. My old backhand (not the one I posted on YouTube) was the one I felt more comfortable with. It looks nothing like a standard one-handed backhand, but I can hit it just as hard and have like 10x more control with it. So....I'm going back to that. :)

Also, I played a tennis match (doubles) the other day, my serve was all over the place: 5 aces and 6 double faults. SIX!! lol The next day, I practiced my serve and with my old racquet, my ball toss needs to be SUBSTANTIALLY lower. It feels normal and it works great.

I haven't really followed women's tennis that strongly but I'm going to watch the entirety of the semi-finals. First time seeing Bouchard and the first thing I noticed is how quiet she is. None of the screeching that is happening at the other side of the net. I love her already.

The fix is in. They meant to show that after Sharapova somehow steamrolled the second set.
