1. If Nadal wins: extends his record at the French
2. If Djokovic wins: completes Career Grand Slam
3. If Wawrinka wins: he'll be the first person to win their first two slams back-to-back
4. If Federer wins: completes second Career Grand Slam (and extend his overall slam record)
5. If Ferrer wins: I don't even know. lol

Holy crap, has there really not been a mens player that won the French after winning the Australian open in the same year?

I thought she was back playing double

She is

Anna Tatishvili plays for the USA? Have we resorted to stealing Georgian's to bolster American tennis? We should court Teymuraz Gabashvili on the mens side while we're at it

I don't think Nadal is doing it this year. It wouldn't surprise if he got taken out by someone running hot in either 4R or the QF. It's time for Djokovic to finally win it. He's been chipping away at Nadal for the past two years, but I don't think he'll be facing him in the final. I'm just gutted that Del Potro is out. He's the one I really wanted to win it this year.

Who's going to knock Nadal out in a Best of 5 though? For all the talk about his decline, he still won a Clay Masters and lost to Djokovic in the final of another.

noone is, it will be Joker vs Nadal in the final and Joker will be unstable yet again because he knows its a RG final against Nadal (yet again) and lose it!

He does look vulnerable this year. Yet, you're right, it still is unlikely that someone could take him out in a five set match beyond Djokovic. I think it's less to do with decline, more to do with the injury he picked up in the Australian Open; it's hampered his clay court preparation and, going into Roland Garros, it looks like he could be exposed if he comes up against someone playing really, really well.

Yeah, that was a very routine match from Fed. You'd think he's already in Wimbledon with all the serve & volley he did.

Apparently Federer has tied Nadal for most wins at the FO

Not surprising. One could easily make the case that Federer is second best clay courter of his era. With five finals and one title, there is really no one else that comes close to that consistency at the French except for Nadal of course who all agree is the clay goat.

Yep. I think this is overlooked when discussing Federer.

So I am watching this Isner x Herbert match (I have no idea why) and just noticed Herbert plays just like Dimitrov. Their serve mechanic is exactly the same. The BH is different though since he doesnt use a one handed BH like Grigor. But still, quite interesting.

I feel the same way about Nadal.

The FO is tough and you can't compete unless you are 100% physically. I get the feeling Nadal is not this year. I wouldn't count him out for Wilmbledon or the US Open but I am also betting on the upset in the first week.

I'm fine if anybody but Rafa wins it.

:lowered-expectations :
This. Djokovic beating Nadal last week (his wrist looks okay) has me pulling for him to get the career grand slam. Nadal has been dropping more sets than he usually does during the clay season which makes me think he'll have a tougher road to the final this year but he's still the one to beat.

Wawrinka can still win The Grand Slam ( all four slams in a calendar year ) and that'll be valued higher than any single year by Djokovic, Federer, Nadal or anyone else in the open era, masters and losses be damned.
Won't happen though.

Wawrinka seem to be struggling with consistency, but once his engines gets started he can beat anyone it seems like.

Shvedova is known as a massive choker/headcase but she is still a very tough opponent on clay. I don't think Lauren will win. She had to win it in two sets.

Well, yeah. Also, you are never exactly at the height of confidence, coming off an injury. Might have been too soon coming in with too little practice after having to retire in that Madrid final.

Nishi pls! :(
Rooting for Nadal and Na Li, although I don't really care who wins on the ,ale side of the tournament since most of them are very likeable people.
