Too bad that it didn't seem to do well, I had a lot of fun with Romancing SaGa. It's not a bad game design wise, but it's not for everyone, no.

If you don't want to pick up the actual game, I'd reccomend giving the soundtrack a listen at least. IMHO, it's one of the best RPG soundtracks of the year. And if you're into like, the Black Mages stuff, a few of the tracks are really cool (some of it was done by their guitarist). The song that plays during the fight with Sherah is fucking INSANE awesome.

Totally worth it. One of the most surprisingly good RPGs of the year. You'd be crazy to pass it up at this price

WRONG.

It has the best battle system and character customization of any RPG this year, and the nonlinearity is really well-done. Most of all, it tells you everything you need to know to enjoy the game, while saving tons of depth for those who want to dig in and find it. I am not exaggerating when I say that it's the RPG equivalent of a Nippon Ichi SRPG. It was totally worth the $40 at release.

The game rocks. BUY IT. But make sure you have at least an ounce of your own initiative and a taste for adventure first. Fuck the parroting "lol kawazu" crowd.

Yeah I think they reprinted Sayuki... I went to a brand new Gamestop and found a copy today. Along with a ton of Rhapsody and Persona 2 reprints, and like Vagrant Story, FF Chronicles, FF8, FF9... I'm liking this reprinting of PSX games, and I'm hearing a rumor that they're gonna reprint Valkyrie Profile.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE TRUE. I have never forgiven myself for passing on this game when I found it for cheap. It is similar to the regret I hold for passing on a new copy of Suikoden at $10. What can I say? I was young and stupid.

Saiyuki's pretty eh. I'm glad they're reprinting some of these titles. I honestly already had all of the "rare" PS games that they've been reprinting, but I hope they do reprint VP, just so more people can play it, and also to totally kill the Ebay market for it. Off the top of my head the only other really rare title on PS that would probably be worth reprinting would be Suikoden 2.

I'm hoping that rumor isn't based off of misinterpretations of Squeenix repriting it in Japan, cuz I want to play it badly. Not bad enough to shell out insane cash on eBay though.

It's an amazing game, and I don't regret getting it full price at all. (sorta, TRU 3 for 2) If it wasn't for DDS1/2 and DQ8, I'd consider it strongly for RPG of the year.

Yeah, since most/all of the b&m stores no longer have a section for new PSX games, they open up the reprints and put them out used. I found Persona 2 this way, and other than it being open it really looked new.
