Ronald D Moore Hired As New God of War Showrunner

Just start it from the beginning in Greece if you want it to be popular.
All the development Kratos shows and further development he goes through in the Norse games are in response to all the things he went through in Greece, so yeah. That is absolutely what they should do. At least dedicate 4 hour long episodes to it. We don't need to see Kratos Murder a different greek god every week lol.

To be fair, I only got up to Season 2 of Battlestar Galactica which was mostly solid up to that point, but everything I heard past that was not great:

Most people tell me that the final Cylon reveals are apparently blatant contradictions to the continuity up to that point, and that most of the mysteries are quickly dismissed with a, “don’t worry about it, it was all God’s doing! …..yes, the Christian God, what, you didn’t realize this was a religious show?”

Haha, definitely limped at the end. Religion was always at the center of the show though.

Kratos only killed one god in the first game.
It wasn’t til GoW 3 where they all turned on him.
Yeah. A full 8 episode season to cover the main 3 games would be awesome. I bet it's a recap/flashback though. Probably happens when he's telling Atreus he's a god.

With the old show runner gone they can change it up. There’s enough content to do a movie for each game.

Skipping to Norse cuts out most of the series story.

This is about the best news you could hope for if you want a God Of war show.

Personally, I think it's fucking stupid, but what do I know.
i second that emotion. kratos was never really big on dialog. so, a tv series about a guy running around slaughtering endless waves of creepy creatures? really?...

Swap those creatures out with people and you’ve got just about every Arnold Schwarzenegger movie from the 80’s and 90’s.

Also the first game is heavily story oriented focusing on his grief and family.

predator, terminator, last action hero, total recall, & a number of other schwarzenegger movies would disagree...

you can still make a great narrative driven show with the main character having little dialogue, you still view the show and other characters can support things going on in the world, I mean the first God Of War is narrated by someone else half the time vs Kratos

Let the actions tell the story

i'm trying to imagine the original gow trilogy as a tv series, & failing. all i can see is a televised action game, like watching an episodic youtube walkthrough. the og gow trilogy was in no way last of us type material. maybe my imagination just needs some work?...

Looks like they actually got a real showrunner. This actually stands a chance now. Maybe these studios are slowly waking up.

Just start it from the beginning in Greece if you want it to be popular.
How i read your post "Just start from the games that sold like 5M copies instead of the one that sold over 20M if you want it to be popular".

Anyway, if they don't start there it's going to be too similar to The Last of Us in many ways i feel. When you take away the gameplay, plenty of story beats are similar.

I don't think it will make a very good show. I think they went to Viking worlds partly because of how Popular Vikings had been in media. We have a lot of great Viking shows out there. Now we are getting a Video Game show in a Viking world that will probably not live up to the game.

They'll probably do long flash backs if I had to guess.

This is good news, this guy is talented, though his expertise is mostly in science fiction.

Anyway, I doubt GOW's story translates well into a TV Show or movie. I'd love to be wrong.

lol i thought is said Roger Moore for a minute lol

I mean, I love Battlestar Galatica, so a win.
I thought the same thing, lol. (looks like he isn't even alive. 2nd best bond imo)

Never got into Battlestar Galactica, always seemed like military version of star trek. Maybe I will give that a shot.

Battlestar Galactica is one of my favourite shows ever, but not even that makes me think that God of War, especially in the 2024 state of the entertainment industry, is something I want a TV show for.

If Greek, it's literally Clash of the Titan's our Hercules/Xena with their own spin on the Greek Mythos.

If Norse, it's literally their version of Norse Mythos all the same.

His work on making Deep Space 9 the GOAT star-trek show got me interested in what he can do with GoW. Hopefully not the dad of war boredom arc the games are going through right now, though. No salvaging that garbage.
