After reading JiJi's love letter to ROTK9 over at Namako Team, I'm interested in playing through one of these bad boys. Should i wait for 10? Is 7 or 8 better than 9? Discuss.

Completly different games.

7 and 8 are the "RPGs" of the series.

9 is straight-up old school ROTK.

I would get 9. I'm REALLY hoping we get that PSP ROTK here in NA.

X scored a 8 / 9 / 7 / 7 - 31 in Famitsu (http://game-science.com/news/001027.html).

X is supposed to be a return to the freedom in 7 and 8, but with a lot more to do and see, and many more event scenes and city- and location-specific screen changes. It's on DVD, too, so maybe it'll have voiced Mandarin for these scenes (did IX have this kind of thing, too? I love the Mandarin in the intro to 8).

I'm surprised my log entry has recieved such a favorable response and turned people onto the series - I fully expected it to bore people.

I was opposed to getting IX when I was trying to decide which one to try first, becuase it sounded just like the ones for NES/SNES that I couldn't get into thanks to their complexity. Now, though, since I've had some experience at ruling, it sounds more interesting. I might pick it up if/when it gets a bit cheaper. X and Kessen III first, though,
