The interesting thing will be to see how they differ from the land animals, considering most of the forest dwellers are based on Earth's aquatic life. What is he going to base the underwater vistas of Pandora on?
To mark the UK Blu-ray release of Avatar, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is erecting a giant interactive replica of the movie's "Tree of Souls" at Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park, London. The visually spectacular exhibit will be live for three days between April 24 and April 26, and officially unveiled by Stephen Lang, who stars as Colonel Miles Quaritch in the film.
As the only tree of its kind ever created and the largest fibre-optic installation in Europe, visitors will have the opportunity to "bring the tree to life," manipulating its lights and colour by plugging their phones and iPods into the tree. Also, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of International Earth Day, and as part of a global initiative to plant a million trees worldwide, Fox will be planting a real tree for every person who directly connects with it. In the UK, Fox has partnered with The Woodland Trust for the tree-planting initiative.
The Tree of Souls - which plays a pivotal role in Avatar - is a giant, moving, interactive tree, with deep spiritual significance to the Na'vi people inhabiting the film's fictional universe, Pandora. Throughout the film, the characters directly interact with their world through the seeds of the tree and communicate with the biological network that exists throughout Pandora.
The UK's "real-life" Tree of Souls will be re-created using 20 miles of fibre optic "branches." Sensors within the tree's trunk will change the colour and intensity of its glow in response to movements made by visitors to the tree. Local Wi-Fi and Bluetooth networks will allow members of the public to upload images and messages to a screen built into the tree, as well as being able to make social networking status updates with an Earth Day message, via their mobile phones. In addition, by plugging portable music systems including iPods, MP3 players and phones into the tree, it will glow and pulsate in time with the music being played.
Further details of the Tree of Soul's functions:
- It is made up of 20 miles of fibre optic cable, making it the largest fibre optic installation in Europe
- To give the impression of being "alive," and to further resemble the tree featured in the film, it has 10 movement sensors spread around the circumference of its trunk, which will pick up movement in the vicinity and change the color and intensity of its fronds the closer people get to or move away from the tree; each area will be autonomous so multiple people will be able to react with different areas.
- Local Wifi networks within the tree will deliver content to enabled Wifi phones, including:
o A website locally hosted in the tree will be enabled to deliver content/assets to compatible mobiles, and will have a form to link with the "plant a tree" initiative. Through the website, members of the public will be able to turn the tree to a specific color, chosen from a palette of hues.
o A screen embedded in the tree's trunk will display the names of people who have had a tree planted
o Bluetooth Network will allow members of the public to upload photos taken on camera phones which will be which will be displayed on the screen- Sound to light: members of the public will be able to plug their portable audio players and see the sound convert to variations of light

Cameron says "several million dollars" are being spent to finish off scenes that were cut from the initial release. He says that will be part of a summer re-release for the 3D wonder, which will include another IMAX run.
The added scenes include Grace Augustine's schoolhouse and backstory and a hunting scene with a new creature known as the Sternbeast.
"The Sternbeast is a creature that was basically completely taken out of the film," Cameron says. "Not because we didn't like him, we loved the Sternbeast. But when we took out the Sternbeast hunt, the other times that we saw the Sternbeast we took out as well."
Other additions include an action sequence, a dramatic scene toward the end, and more of an infamous sex scene involving the Na'vi creatures.
"The sex scene in all its glory lasts an additional 12 seconds," Cameron said.
The big-screen return will be followed by the release of a four-disc DVD/Blu-ray box set, including lots of supplemental material.
I'm pretty sure it is the best Blu-ray disc out now. The picture is unbelievable with absolutely no grain or noise. It is awesome with the 1.78:1 ratio on my 46" samsung LED TV. It filled the entire screen with the amazing colors of Pandora. It was like the IMAX sequences in The Dark Knight. I can honestly say that the BD version was so much sharper and clearer than the IMAX 3D version I saw in theaters. You can really see the detail that was put into this movie.

If they put the Hunt back in, they better put the post hunt Festival as well. I don't think you can put one without the other since they go hand in hand...but the fact that he didn't precise it...
There were a few minor scenes that showed the Sternbeast herds in the wild, so I assume those are getting put back in as well, for the sake of consistency.

This right here is the flaw of Avatar - pretty much all creatures on that darn planet have 6 extremities - yet the Na'vi walk around just like silly humans with two legs and two arms.Dead said:
