LOL yeah stuff like this may well come back to haunt:CassidyIzABeast said:
I might have been the first to mention ferngully, but I'm still seeing Avatar opening weekend. I don't buy the press's hyperbole since people's expectations have been pretty low, but we'll see.polyh3dron said:We need to go back to that first trailer thread and see who clowned on it talking about delgo, smurfs and ferngully just to see who has a complete about-face.

Am I alone in finding the CG during the bow/arrow part a bit jarring? Not to say it isn't impressive, but it definitely didn't help suspend my disbelief. I suppose if it's stuck in the middle of a 2.5 hour movie on a 3D screen, that's not as much of a problem.Jibril said:Potential short spoiler:

For the people who might have missed it.
Looks so real. I love the music too.![]()

To me, it's just a reminder that there's still work to be done with special effects like this. It could be better, as no one would deny, but so many parts that I saw in the trailer seemed near-perfect to me. The youtube clip above was different somehow.
Karma Kramer said:I honestly thought the teaser was ALOT better then the trailer. The teaser kicked ass imo.
Why is your OP the only post in that thread?Scullibundo said:http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=135364
We've come a long way baby.
Really? I only preferred the teaser's music, but aside from that, I thought it was an insipid amalgamation of clips. It didn't matter though, since Avatar Day happened one day after. n.nTricky I Shadow said:My friend thinks that too. Both are great, but personally I like the trailer more than the teaser.

Like immediately declaring triumph over a few gushing critics when they haven't seen the movie themselves yet?Dabanton said:So many juicy quotes it that thread would be unfair to single one out. Though i'm sure someone is compiling a best of. :lol Yet again it proves most people on the internet love kneejerk reactions.

Unfortunately the avg rating keeps sliding down. My hype will remain at peak levels so long as it stays above Titanic (81%, 7.3).SPACECADET said:up to 11 positive on RT

Busty said:I just saw Empire's 5/5 review. I have no reason to doubt this film is quality apart from that review. I simply don't trust Empire reviews at all.
Empire reviews are notoriously inconsistent, over inflated for big fan boy projects and then sensible and fair for others.
They gave Mission To Mars, the worst film I have ever seen, 3/5 IIRC. They then corrected it for the video review giving it a single star.
None the less, the good buzz if building.

I walked out of the room. I'll watch all that stuff after I've seen the movie.

If JC can get Devin Farci to write a glowing review of Avatar I'll officially be blown away, on a number of levels.![]()
I like the tagline used at the end, though.Scullibundo said:Man I'm glad I missed that.

Andrew Pulver said:[...]Be that as it may, Avatar tries to have it both ways, to be preachy and a thrill-ride at the same time. I can't in all honesty say it pulls it off it's baggy, longwinded and, for all the light-speed imagery, just not quick on its feet. Cameron used to be the tautest film-maker around, but he just got slack.
Busty said:In Empire's case. Yes.
I had a good mind to mount legal action against them after I paid to see Mission To Mars after reading their review.
In the words of one Mr. Jeff Albertson. Worst. Movie. Ever.
As I said, their reviews are not very reliable to say the least.

They also have a positive one here from Mark Brown though. I would have liked to hear what Peter Bradshaw thought of it.
:lol :lolReview: This monstrously hyped film looks fantastic but sinks trying to cover all the basis, says Andrew Pulver
