i remember her face looking wet when it really shouldn't. and it was overlit, too.

it stood out against the rest of the na'vi in atleast one scene.

Could you elaborate a little more?

Onix made a typo.

Only movies filmed specifically in the IMAX format fill up the entire screen(which is much bigger and taller than the average film screen ratios). Avatar wasn't, so it doesn't. :P You didn't get ripped off.

I finally went the day after Christmas, and saw it in RealD. The picture was as dim as I've come to expect 3D to be, but it's a cool gimmick and it helps make the CG look less fake.
Before, I was turned off by how much of a retread of certain other movies Avatar seemed to be, but I was surprised to find that I like it better than the movies it copies so shamelessly. The mustache-twirling head merc was its only real weakness. (... though the nerd in me was annoyed that things seemed to fall just as fast as on Earth in the supposedly low gravity.)

I just looked back, and my predictions were:

$720million domestic and $1.6billion ww. Do either of those stand a chance?
720 domestic? Um...OK.

To answer your question, the latter might have a shot, the former is crazy talk.

Not sure what you could have been thinking with the former, but I think the latter has a good shot.

I was thinking that $720 was about halfway between Titanic's actual, and adjusted gross. Mostly a joke post, but now, who knows.

Okay. Can't say I'm not a bit disappointed though, especially after reading all the hoopla about true IMAX vs. fake IMAX, I was totally expecting 100 feet of movie

(CNN) – Presidents go to the movies too.

Obama aides confirm the first family Thursday is catching the season's biggest hit: Avatar.

CNN's Ed Henry reports the family and their friends have the theater to themselves and are watching the 3-D version.

One of the perks to being a president's kid. ARGH!!!

Wow...Looking at that calendar really puts things in perspective. Pick any three days of the week, and they would be considered a really good (not opening) weekend for any other movie.

Are you kidding?

The last 3 days combined for 55 million.

For reference, that is where Avatar was tracking to open a few weeks before it released.

Monday, Tuesday, Wed of the 2nd week of release is sitting right where the opening weekend was tracking.

Fucking Nuts.

To put that in perspective, if the last three days were a weekend, it would have been the 12th largest opening weekend of the year, between Watchmen ($55.2m) and Monsters vs. Aliens ($59.2m).

So, when Jake has hot steamy avatar sex, does that count as a wet dream? His pants were clean.
I guess not because he doesn't salivate in human form when eating into the fruit. What a thought tho! Imagine Neyteri pulling Jake's "plug" and Jake waking up from too much excitement. :D

I thought it looked horrible. Looked nothing like the others.

Horrible huh? I definitely wouldn't take it that far.

I was just so impressed with her scenes when they touched down in Pandora and shes talking and laughing with Norm's avatar. That shit looked unbelievable.

ROFL@michelle's face when jake say "that's right bitch take your punk ass back to mama"
The best line from her was "Yeah, you know what that is. Get down."

Wait what part are you guys talking about?

I just got tickets to see this on friday at IMAX(First Imax movie) with a bunch of fanatics. I didn't know you reserved a seat when you were getting IMAX tickets that's pretty bad ass.

The second day when they go into the jungle for the first time, right before Jake encounters the Thanador. Norm and Grace are taking samples from a wild plant and talking/laughing about it.

I vaguely remember that scene Ill be sure to pay more attention to it this time. All I can recall is doesn't Grace say something like "umm you contaminated the sample with saliva"

Sam Worthington is going to be one of the presenters at the Golden Globes.

Anyway, the scene where they're 'talking and laughing' is where they're taking the samples from the roots in the jungle. It starts with Norm saying 'Here I go and inserting the needle tip into the root' and after Norm is amazed at the data they collect Grace says 'See? The connection is instant.' and then starts talking about how far away each tree is from each other or something. One of my favourite scenes.

Yeah that is a cool moment. I thought most people would miss it as the convo is in the background and both Norm & Grace are out of focus. At that point in the movie, the convo didnt make sense either. :D

Another one of my favourite scenes is the introduction to Quaritch. Begins on classic Cameron tracking of his feet, and the eventual reveal is so subtle, yet so awesome. The lighting in that scene always impresses the hell out of me.

I like how Jake rolls up as Quaritch is turning around and they make eye contact for like 10 seconds and its like he is addressing him directly just for that moment.

How up-to-date are Boxofficemojo's overseas numbers? WW is at 745 million and US is at 268. 745 + the aforementioned 36 overseas would be 781, so... what's missing here?

I dunno why, but the way lang delivers the 'you get soft" line made me crack up on both viewings

my god. I could not agree more. I've cracked up both times I've seen it.
"You get soft.."

*Bench presses*

"YOU GET SOFT.."

Just oozes out of him, that he's just completely insane. :lol
