You're nuts if you think FOX will let a sequel fly without humans in them in a major way, regardless of how much money Avatar is making.

Quite possibly, but I do think there will be humans, but they will not be in nearly as large of a role as Avatar 1.

I'm curious, having missed out on the 250 pages of discussion, so not sure if it came up before but I came across this gif in my photo album that was all I could think about during the Tribal Dance scene:

Anyone else?

So something I noticed that was apparent all along but just thought about it...I really like how all of the NA'Vi call Jake jakesully except Neytiri who calls him Jake. Shows that she is the only one that truely knows him. Just a little detail that i liked they put in.

Sometimes, Neytiri even call him Ma'Jake. Didn't spotted that until someone in this thread mentioned it. This movie is fully of little interesting details, quite nice if you're planning to see the movie multiple times.

Agree. And how she calls him "my Jake" at the very end when
she sees him passed out without the mask on
.

I thought she was saying "my" Jake.

She was saying 'My Jake'. Apparently in the subs, the subtitlers put it as ma'jake for international versions.

This. I paid close attention to that last time. She says it once, when she is cradling him in the trailer at the end.

Here's a pretty good, short interview Cameron did right before it opened when he talked about the idea of a "three film arc".

I like how he said he thought they'd know the movie would make enough money for sequels about two months after release, since he thought it would have long legs. He got the second part right, but the timeline was off a bit.

Great interview though the guy that is conducting the interview annoys the crap out of me.

You people should wash your ears. When she's hiding behind the tree and Jake calls her on their wireless thingy, she says it too.

And it's Ma'Jake, damnit.

That's definitely the most solid answer you can get from Cameron regarding sequels. The only hesitation he had was regarding how much money the first one would make, and well, hehe, I don't think that's an issue any longer. I'd imagine he must be pleased with the speed in which it made that money too, as he was estimating it'd take a longer time.

I love the point he made about how the world still exists in the computer, and it's not like they tore down the sets and such and would have to put them back together again. Sure it will still take a lot of work, especially for the VFX houses like WETA, but hopefully Cameron will be able to also streamline the process like he wants to.

If he's going to do the sequels before Battle Angel, it'd be cool for him to introduce some robots/cyborgs in one of the sequels as maybe a little practice. :D

I wouldn't mind a 3-5 year gap for the sequel to come out. Hell, it was 8 years between Terminator and Terminator 2, and inbetween those two he did Aliens and The Abyss. Quality over quantity!

And if you think about it, if Zombie Quaritch gets a hold of the Almanac, they can very easily re-shoot the scenes that took place in the original AVATAR from different angles! :lol

According to that guy at AICN, Cameron straight-up said "there'll be a sequel" at some Q&A session today, so I guess if there was for some weird reason any doubt in your mind that it would happen, you can put it to rest.

But will they have PREDATOR?

I assume the report is here.

What can I say. I'm 1) not shocked; 2) disappointed; and 3) there day 1.

JUST GIVE ME BATTLE ANGEL!

I can already feel the disappointment of him announcing some other project as his next film. I'm about 85% sure it won't be BA.

Definitely. What's up with that guy?...

But anyway, great news. Would love to see a 2nd and 3rd parts!.

Could be that atomic bomb endeavor he apparently talked to that recently-deceased Japanese survivor about. Which would be... powerful, no doubt.

What's the Almanac and why is it important that Zombie Quaritch get a hold of it?

I probably missed something since I haven't been reading up on this thread, but this statement did get my interest.

2) disappointed

Disappointed because it's likely that Avatar 2 will be the next Cameron film because of its success (thus no Battle Angel for a very long time - either after Avatar 2 or even after the trilogy)?

Shame on anybody who doesn't get the reference.

:(

I only got the reference the second time because I recently watched part of the movies because someone else was watching them - the last time I actually sat down and consciously watched them was the first time I saw them and that's been years ago.

Cameron will decline to do Avatar 2 so Fox will go ahead w/o him and replace Sam Worthington with Jake Ghyllenhall.

Hey, its exactly what happened when he declined to do Aquaman 2, Jake Ghyllenhall + Michael Bay.

How is the game selling?
I have never seen a game so heavily advertised.

Yes. I want Battle Angel.

I wonder if a 3D presentation of Hiroshima/Nagasaki would be considered tasteful or not...
