Article:
It was a complete rejection by moviegoers around the world this weekend as Maggie Gyllenhaal's $80M bride of Frankenstein monster movie, The Bride!, opened to $13.6M.

Of that, domestic was $7.3M, not only breaking Warner Bros' No. 1 nine-picture opening streak at the B.O., but repping a bow that was lower than some recent lows for the Burbank, CA lot, read last year's disasters Mickey 17 ($19M) and Companion ($9.3M).

Industry sources, not Warners, believe the loss on The Bride! could approach $90M in its first cycle after home entertainment downstream. Note, it will be a while before the ultimate red is realized. Warner Bros had no comment about the movie's P&L which includes $65M in worldwide P&A. Bad timing for a loss as WBD CEO David Zaslav just cashed in $114M+ in stocks due to a trading window opening for executives involved in any deal negotiations.

Will Hollywood please stop bankrupting itself on an endless stream of baffling projects that have zero prospect of success?

I don't really care what the budget is. I haven't heard great things about it and so I'm not expecting much but I might check it out sometime this week.

Looked like a dumb movie from the get go. Who the hell would spend money to watch it. Though to be fair, I think it's the kind of movie when it comes to Netflix maybe people kill time trying it.

I'll sum it up for you: It's like Bride of Frankenstein.

It's a mix of movies like Poor Things, Joker, Birds of Prey from Harley Quinn, Bonnie and Clyde, and Natural Born Killers—these ideas just don't mix.

It's about fighting against the oppressive patriarchy, and the protagonist is empowered... Visually, it's a good movie, but the story is terrible. It uses music from Hildur Guðnadóttir from the movie TAR and the HBO series Chernobyl, but the script is ridiculous, criticizing white men with boring monologues.

The protagonist, a crazy woman obsessed with the oppressive patriarchy and with psychiatry... and an Emo Frankenstein who feels depressed.

It was ruined because it was supposed to be a bloodier, more entertaining, and original version... but as always, Warner Bros.' ineptitude got involved with the producers, and they changed several good things.

It was going to be released on Netflix, but costs rose, and they abandoned the project. Warner Bros. came in and interfered for the worse.

This movie tries to be different; watching it on streaming is a 6, but if you go to the cinema you will be disappointed.

Its a 6 of Score

I watched it a few days ago in IMAX, it was alright, nothing like the complete abortion that was joker 2.
There's some cool scenes in it, but overall it's pretty forgettable, it also feels way longer than 2 hours, thought I was there for 3

Like I said I'm not expecting much but I think I might check it out just to see what I think. I'll see how busy I end up this week. I've got a few other things I want to watch that will probably take priority over it, like I think I'm going to watch It Was Just an Accident tomorrow, I'm seeing Project Hail Mary at the weekend and maybe Sirat at some point too. So it'll mostly come down to how busy I am.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is blaming misogyny for the movie bombing.

The trailers are bad, the word of mouth is bad, and the critics are negative (including female critics). But yes, for sure.

The trailers are bad, the word of mouth is bad, and the critics are negative and is a Warner bros productions....

So now they're convinced of how bad the movie is?

This movie supposedly cost 10x the budget of her debut.

It would probably have cost a whole lot more if she hadn't cast friends and family.

Hahaha Even if he's in character, the face Christian Bale is making basically says, "They said they'd pay me alot.........it still wasn't enough".

Holy shit, she looks so different it didn't even cross my mind that Justin Bieber looking person in the picture at the top was her till you said something :messenger_tears_of_joy:
LOL. A shame.

I thought she was cute in the old Batman movie. Katie Holmes was hotter with the hot college girl vibe, but I thought Maggie was cute in a normie kind of way.
