RPCS3 Is A New PS3 Emulator, Still In Early Stage, Boots Commercial Game

Not bad at all, faster than I had expected. The stagnation of PC components horse power will make the wait for something actually playable longer though. Back in e.g. the early PS1 emulation days the progress made on the software was accompanied by huge hardware advancements.

That's being offset by the jumps in software advancement for PCs these days as far as emulation is concerned. The last few progress leaps (such as the Afterburner Climax video) were made possible solely due to DX12 advancements that the software was able to take advantage of. From what I've read emulators are barely scratching the surface of what optmisations that API (and I assume Valkan) can bring to the table, it's going to be a big deal especially as so many new emulators for the 360, 3DS, PS3 and Wii U start maturing.

8-core FX is good for DX12/Mantle/Vulcan. It was built from the start to has great multithreading capabilities [while Intel pushed for great singlecore performance, which gave it boost in DX9/11]
A fast modern Intel CPU is still significantly faster even in applications which have perfect parallel scaling. Particularly the enthusiast-class chips, but even the standard consumer ones. (E.g. here's a set of highly parallel benchmarks)

You're making sense so you obviously have no business here.

Will NISA get around to porting Disgaea 3 (and 4) to PC first or will it first be fully playable in RPCS3?

The race is on.

I'd just like to note that emulating Disgaea 3 perfectly at full speed and emulating something like RDR similarly well is almost like emulating two different platforms.

That's not to take away from the enormous achievement here, just to calibrate expectations.

They gotta' get to Demons Souls.

Yes, that would be amazing if it's playable.
I also would like to see if there is a big performance increase with a intel cpu like mine i7 4790k and 970 gpu in comparison to the currently running rig with the emulator.

60 FPS Demons Souls...

Is this emulator outpacing PCSX2 in terms of progress speed?

I feel like we were told it'd be years and years before any progress would be made on emulating PS3, and here we are.

i think originally it might have taken many more years but DX 12 seems to have sped that up considerably .

The only thing they're doing wrong is hosting their builds on a shitty pay-to-download-fast site (rapidgator in this case)

I'd say the PC port if sales are brisk. This emulator has another two years or so, I feel before it hits "prime-time."

Disgaea could follow the Final Fantasy track and release the previous 6 titles 3-4 months after the other and have 3 out within a year and a half or so.
