Google is like an old man out of ideas. All they can do to please investors is get more ad revenue.
I make an effort to use alternatives for every product they have. Where I fucked up is on the Nest thermostat. I wonder when they will start pushing ads on that little circular screen.

This homescreen advertising update happened right after I bought my Sony Android TV. I then moved onto my Nvidia Shield for a while, but eventually that needed the update as well. I’m not that bothered by advertising in general, but it’s the stuff that I have absolutely no interest in (like all of the recent ads for Pride month).
