That could be cool, since Super Dunk Shot was known in the USA as NCAA Basketball for the SNES and still stands as my favorite 5 on 5 basketball sim ever.

You sure it's not just NBA Street 3 in Japan? The subtitle there is Mario de Dunk. Mario Dunk Shot might've been another possible name they were considering, no?
