Rumor: MS is not going to allow Xbox to heavily market COD being Day 1 on GamePass

"isn't allowed"?

Will Smith Reaction GIF
People forgot about what they said on their showcase. They were blasting day1 gamepass for their games.

I kind of always presumed this would be the case. It doesn't make sense for Microsoft to advertise to people that they can get CoD for what is essentially free on GP which would only prevent people from paying full price for the game. They want to have their cake and eat it too, which is why Xbox hardware has basically collapsed because of decisions consistent with this manner of thinking.

I have no idea what this not allowed is supposed to mean but massively marketed will not be needed. The simple "Available on Game Pass Day One" tag is all that is required for it to be a massive success on Game Pass. I believe most people already know/expect it.

You were told that Microsoft isn't going to market Call of Duty…and you believed it? Even when there's a beta coming up soon, even with the marketing videos for the Zombies mode they just released?

No, that they will not market it own GamePass, which is what this thread is about. I'd ask for a full refund from whomever was in charge of your schooling since it appears they failed you in reading comprehension.

I remember a meme in the Xbone generation:

Got 99 problems but an Xbox ain't one

.. I didn't understand it, so I asked GPT:

The meme "Got 99 problems but an Xbox ain't one" is a playful adaptation of the famous lyric from Jay-Z's song "99 Problems." During the PS4 and Xbox One generation, this meme typically implied that the person had various issues or challenges (99 problems), but owning an Xbox (or the problems associated with it) was not one of them. This often suggested that they were satisfied with their gaming setup or preferred another gaming system, like the PS4.

I still don't understand it 😔.

But that meme literally popped into my mind because it makes me think that the Xbox has problems in every aspect, except (insert current narrative) like MAU.

its craaaazy. what's next? Giving Play Station exclsuvie maps or whatever just to encourage sales instead of subscriptions to Game Pass?.... 🤡🎪🤡

I see. Here are your own words I responded to:

"Let's release a product that cost us a lot to crate and not tell anyone about it!"

What part of this says 'GamePass', a service that's been in existence since 2018? A service they've been marketing heavily for years? A service that's certainly not a 'product' in the traditional sense.

When you're in a hole, stop digging.

If people are blind that is their fault.

Xbox/MS games are Day1 on their system. Any first party games they advertise is going to be Day1 on gamepass. That is their slogan. Whether gamepass appears or not won't matter.

This is like saying, "if you didn't know Best Buy had a $500 off sale on Lenovo laptops, it's your fault and you are blind". If it wasn't massively advertised then you might just miss it. Just as a parent who chooses to buy COD Black Ops 6 the fall for their kid and may not know they can just sign up for GP.

Just do your research. Don't trust fanboys.

Open Google Chrome.
Type call of duty Black ops 6 trailer.
Click on the video. Watch the end of the video.
There, you can see the gamepass logo.

It's not really that hard.

Seriously, I'm good through February 2027 thanks to Microsoft Rewards. You bet I've been conditioned to not pay for games. At least not unless they're actually good.
Yeah I kind of looking and got a good deal. I've been doing the month-to-month and honestly wasting my money and got probably the best you could get. May add more time.

People talk about the showcases like everyone who owns a console watches them.

Newsflash: The vast majority of the gaming audience doesn't watch showcases and certainly doesn't microanalyze what language they put on the trailers. If they did that then the June Xbox showcase would have actually moved Xboxes.

Sony wins the contest because despite being a household name they still go where the customers are and do actual in-store marketing, actual advertisement on billboards and shit where ppl can see them etc.

So to end this, No, the vast majority of COD players won't know that it's coming day 1 to Gamepass unless Microsoft actually markets that fact.

Is it because they're actively undercutting their full-priced sales on slimy platforms? I don't know. 🤷‍♂️
Precisely! Gamepass would be directly undercutting the sales of an IP they just paid 70 billion for. Which makes this....such a predicament.

if you play cod, you will know ms bought them. They have gamepass, which they put their first party day1 there.

There is no need to go all this hoop.

Of course that's not difficult. But you're going on the assumption that people are looking for that deal. Not everyone will do that. My parents know my kid likes COD, but do you expect them to "open Google Chrome, search the trailer and wait till the end to see Game Pass" before surprising him with the game for his birthday?

Come on man...this is simple. More advertising in more places, reaches more people. If it's indeed true that MS is against heavily marketing the game on GP, then naturally it won't be known to every one and some people will end up paying full price for the game.

bruh .. it's the main thing on Xbox.com.

The "coming to game pass" tag is the first thing on the page, even before the games title.

Don't feed the stupidity of this thread.

I am not making assumptions here. Those kids watch YouTube. Their YouTuber is gonna talk about the game being on gamepass.

This isn't 2010, where you needed magazines to tell you about it.

This is why brain rot is bad. Random Twitter user gets more attention than the main website.

Whether the info in the OP is true or not, is not the point I am making here. You guys are literally not listening to anything I said. But hey, I'll be sure to point and laugh at my parent's (my kids grandparents...or any parent for that matter) who walks in Walmart and buys the game as a surprise gift, and tell them they wasted their money. They should have went to the MS website first or talked to the kids who would 100% know because they 100% watch YT.

Multiple examples have been given to you showing how the 'claim' made in OP is wrong and how the game pass advertisement is front and center in most places the game is being advertised in.

Obviously you won't get the game pass branding on the games tile or any adverts on Playstation websites / console apps, but the whole point of "hurr durr I heard from someone that MS isn't going to market their flagship game on their flagship service" gets disproven within seconds.

You see that there, that is something everyone on the planet uses every day.

Kids get their info there.

The answer is clear. The console fight mentality is there. Outside people get their source, not from Twitter but other sites. People here don't want to believe that. They think Twitter is everything.

I find it profoundly funny that the same users who complain about all those 'xbox shills' on twitter, don't hesitate for a second to create threads based on their content if it suits their narratives.

That's why I said if.
Plus I am not reading every post in this thread to debunk the OP. My argument was not meant to be in support of the OP anyway, but simply to correlate that more advertising reaches more people, and that not everyone will be covered by the scenario that the poster I originally quoted mentioned.

You don't understand, WE are the guys going through hoops, watching showcases and tracking game release dates and trailers etc etc.

The normie does not give a fuck about the vast majority of what we discuss here. The normie has no clue what's on gamepass because gamepass has not been marketed in the normie world, only extremely online people like me and you do.

The people playing FIFA or COD have almost zero clue what games are coming out this month, let alone what's on Gamepass and what's not.

If they did then gamepass would have had a far bigger subscriber base than it does rn.

JFC.
My brother, there is YOUTUBE. Every COD YouTuber is going to cover the news about the game. Do you really think those people don't matter? That nobody watches them?

How much time do you think the average consumer spends on YouTube?

Just because it's online doesn't mean people are guaranteed to have eyeballs on it.
