Rumor: new bungie game (gummy Bears ) will be announced at state of play

Another rainbow GaaS? Really?

Can't have GAAS without the rainbow turd filling the screen.

Supervive is probably the closest reference we can have for now. And even with good reviews the player count is very low these days.

All jokes aside, why is Bungie splintering into multiple projects when their next big game that they announced 2 years ago doesn't even have a release window.

You'd think they would be all hands on deck between that and maintaining Destiny.

A MOBA and and an extraction shooter? What will the industry leading creative geniuses at Bungie think of next? Maybe a Battle Royale? A card game? A gatcha waifu game?

I can't wait to see what creative and unique outlet they pour the next several hundred million dollars into.

They are beyond help at this point.

Just throwing GAAS shit at a wall and hoping something sticks is not a strategy.
To be fair this time they figured what better thing to throw at a wall and hope it sticks than a gummy bear.

All sarcasm aside I can't believe they would continue to push gaas. I love GT7 but I can't think of any other success stories for Sony outside of Bungie's own Destiny franchise.

I don't think a single person involved with this game has kids lmao. Gummy Bears? This is for like 4-7 year olds. They don't have gaming PCs or consoles. Wtf are they even doing?

Cartoon Network series and a live action Netflix Movie to be announced soon.
edit-I finally read the thing, It says CODENAMED Gummy Bears.

Ah yes a children's moba. This is exactly what I want from bungie and Sony, they have been on a such a roll lately, it's truly amazing. I can see why gaf loves Sony so much.

Only those cultural fruit loops would come up with that as a codename for a game.

Lemme guess, they want to target children too.

The conversation around this is unsurprisingly cynical from a crowd that largely doesn't like GaaS as a principle that doesn't reflect the younger gaming crowd at all that do. It also mirrors the "lawl hero shooters dead" dismissal of an entire genre when Marvel Rivals went on to fantastic success.

Will it succeed? Dunno, but at least Sony IS trying something new when for so long they've been called risk averse.

I was thinking they could make a splatoon like game but didn't they already do that and it failed? I can't even remember the name.

It will not succeed because the audience for this game is on iPads.

If it ain't this, I don't give a shit!

One of the best cartoon theme songs ever! 😤

Really though, at this point who cares about these "rumors" and "leaks" we've seen SO many just not be true. In hours we'll know for sure.
I used to rep this cartoon. That fucking Gummi juice was like a cheat code for those mfking bears.

This is a good point and is a real concern.

However, games are complex. It's hard to know what kind of impact a 3rd person party console based MOBA will have on the market just because a top down traditional MOBA/Extraction PC game isn't hitting. There's so many levers we're unaware of that can lead to success. Remember, NeoGAF (all the internet really) has a dismal track record when it comes to predicting GAAS hits. Lots of 7 year fads that are as strong as ever today (Didn't PUBG just break a revenue record this week?)

Remember, when everyone knew MOBA's were dead and then Deadlock broke records? It's a tricky market to see fully.

If ends being true then hundred of Bloodborne beggers gonna eat good.

And if we're lucky we got another thread about false equivalences.

This isn't for me probably, but GAAS game development is the dating of entertainment - you're going to keep failing, but if you get one that works, it's a life-changing event that was worth all the effort.

They're not going to do this, but it would be cool if they created a character progression/power loop that last 10 - 20 hours and the better you were, the faster you'd burn through it. So low skill players could have a strong character at hours 12 - 20 and high skill players would end their character at hour 10.
