Rumor: Next Tomb Raider is Open-World, takes place in India

Open world and motorcycle? This might scratch that Days Gone itch. I really do hope they go all in on the OW aspect to nail exploring a world and all the bits that go in it. You could still have dungeons underneath areas that are akin to the original trilogy even if smaller in nature.

Less combat, deeper exploring abilities/rewards, make dungeons the shining star with lot's of puzzles and Lara herself a cocksure thief happy to steal anything and everything.

If they are smar tthe motorcycle will be customizable. I just can't wait to have to kill 10 pythons to upgrade the seat, 5 white elephants for better traction wheels, and 15 rock idols to improve the handling :p

Open World Tomb Raider could be something special if they actual nail the sense of exploration and discovery in the way Elden Ring did. That is stumbling about vast unique looking dungeons.

But they very easily could miss the mark on that. There will be Tombs sure, but there could be 100 of the sameish looking tombs that take 15-30 minutes to complete.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Lara is now trans. Wokeness is a mental illness.

"After Tomb Raider was rebooted to chase the hottest Uncharted/Naughty Dog trend of its day, it will now be rebooted to chase the more current biggest trends! Always a day late and a dollar short, that's our motto!"

Truly exciting shit here, wow.

This franchise has zero actual gameplay identity left anyway, might as well.

Agree. I have a theory that this rumor was "leaked" to gauge what fans' hopes and dreams will be for the game to be good. And CD will do the exact opposite.

explore tombs? here's on the rails walking simulator
ride motorcycle to navigate open world? heres escort mission for a helpless local national
loot treasures protected by deadly traps? heres more crafting and upgrading drivel
have a carefree main character motivated by thrill & wanderlust? nope you get politically correct lecturing about minorities and progress

Lara Croft: Tomb Restorator

I really do want a good game, and the recent ones had elements that worked well. I have zero faith it will be anywhere near our visions.

Question: How do I play Lost Legacy on steamdeck?
Edit: nevermind its part of Legacy of Thieves Collection

I can only hope they put enough thought into the motorcycle to make it customizable and overall fun to ride. Bigger saddlebags, more treasure, more goodness. No trashy collectathon items needed.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
  • "Generic Ubigame" structure.
  • 4 companions with their own habilities.
  • Open or semi-open world, not clear.
  • Lara would have a motorcycle, to make it easier for players to explore.
  • MMO elements.
  • 5 villains, very stereotypical, including a rich man, a mob boss, and two brothers.
  • Familiar characters returning, Jonah Maiava and Kurtis Trent.
  • Lara will have a skill tree with spells.
  • The game is a mix of various trends and genres.

Literally nothing about this game is appealing to me. And that's before even knowing how they DEI-d the whole thing to death.

I guess they ran out of ideas. "Make it open-world and lame." I am really tired of open-world games. I ain't got the time.

Plus: "MMO elements"? "Generic Ubigame structure"? "Very stereotypical villains"? "A mix of various trends."

Sounds awful.

Would definitely love the setting. Still I don't believe India will be the only country for it's settings. It should be a globe-trotting adventure.

And I would love to see a mission or to in Bangladesh. xD

Weren’t this plot leaked already on a podcast where she was with a group of explorers and they turned Lara into a lesbian and there was ancient lasers or whatever?

I remember thinking the Tomb Raider I like was dead. Not getting any positive vibes from this.

She looks perfect. She’s not supposed to be a me tiny thing like Margot Robbie. She’s an angelina Jolie body type. As long as she has a nice attractive face im good.
This is mj in sp2 being hot all over again dude :lollipop_squinting:

We have a say in italy, making a mistake is human, persevering is diabolical.

Does that bitch looks like angelina jolie to you in the face?

That’s what they did with the last reboot. Shadow has very little combat and is mostly exploration.
And i didn't even bothered to buy it because of that.
If they can't bother to make a good exploration\combat ratio maybe going open world is the solution so i can decide how kuch combat and exploration i wanna do.

I kinda enjoyed the first 2 new games (the first one more than rise) but i was never a fanboy of the old tomb raiders so i'm biased.

The greatest joy in Tomb Raider was exploring ancient, gigantic environments in near silence, alone, as an intrepid adventurer who just happened to be a hot woman.

Literally none of that will be present in this new game, and therefore will be Tomb Raider in name only, and will just copy a lot of current video game trends… and I will be avoiding it like the plague.

Could be a cool concept finally going open world. Imagine an Elden Rings kinda Map with dungeons and adventures hidden throughout that you just find organically.
Boss Fights could be against ancient temple gods / Puzzles would be a great departure and bring new life into the series. Just don't make Laura into a woke meme.
