Gen 6> 4 >>>5Just curious, after the first three gens, what's everyone's favorite gen in terms of new monsters?
I was thinking about it today. I really like DPPt as games, but I think 4th gen overall is kinda weak. All those new evolutions took up a lot of room.
Then fifth gen had those elemental monkeys which took up 6 Pokemon... and lots of other weaker designs. But Krookodile, Haxorus, Zebstrika, Archeops, Zoroark were all super cool imo. Plus it was neat as BW were essentially full-on reboots, a whole new 151 Pokes with no older ones available initially.
Sixth gen had imo the weakest final evo starters (besides the sexy Greninja).
I dunno. It's tough. I think I have to give the nod to fifth gen though. For me it goes 5 > 4 > 6.
People complain about Gen 6 and it's gen 1 pandering. However, Gen 5 was much worse. A significant portion of Gen 5 pokemon were just repackaged Gen 1 pokemon. Don't get me wrong there is a decent amount of Pokemon I like from Gen 5 but in general the designs felt reductive. I recall developers saying that a common complaint was the persistence of Zubats in caves and Tentacool in the water. Their solution was to just make new bat and jellyfish pokemon to harass you in caves. I enjoy Woobat and Frillish a lot more than their Gen 1 counterparts but they completely missed the point. I'm glad Gen 6 came up with a better solution allowing you to catch a lot of different kinds of Pokemon at any time. The Gen 5 designs themselves were either some of my most like designs in the series or I strongly disliked it.
