Damn this thread is still going. I underestimated how important From Software/Souls series has become to a lot of Gaf members.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited, as I own all the Souls games, and I have a PS4 so this will inevitably be in my game collection the day it releases.

Heh, it's half of why I hate seeing people keep saying "current gen" instead of "next gen" when it comes to PS4/XB1, it sure as hell doesn't feel like it when we have only a few good exclusives on the systems and a giant pile of cross gen games.

The other half is they keep using it in the same way and places people would normally use next gen. It'd probably be a lot more natural sounding if they just said "this gen" or tried to avoid a gen reference if they didn't want to say next gen, but either way it's me being a bit picky admittedly.

That's just it tho, isn't it? That I as enthusiast would want to know that, say, sim city is busted or whatever the damaging items are. It is frustrating to have my trust violated because outlets are beholden to the entities they cover to not harm them. I don't want them harmed, unless events warrant.
These days I feel like it is what it is, but let's be clear about what it is, right? I rarely doubt the honesty in a story, I do often question the story selection and the headline (and tagline if there is one).

I also apologize for the derail, but i've never had the chance to approach a writer on the topic.

I'm talking about, like, game announcements, and previews of early builds. I can't think of many situations where journalists knew about something that could potentially hurt their readers but had to keep it under wraps because of an embargo.

That's a very interesting tidbit, I fucking hate preview content as it's mostly just regurgitation since it's impossible to form a full opinion based upon such a sheltered amount of information given to you.

Would love to see them disappear in favour of 'announce' -> 'hands on impressions and/or trailers' since it isn't a required component to create meaningful games media revenue.

E3 is going to be amazing if this game has a good showing. Is there any chance for a 2014 release?

Are you saying we're gonna get a model replica of the hype train in the collector's edition?? And why am I still not on board? There's still so much room left!
 
So excited, hoping this is real and what we all think it is. Re-playing Demon's Souls right now, and it is easily my game of the generation.
 
I sure hope they reveal this soon. I'm not too fond of firearms in my "Souls" experience though...makes me a tad scared of the direction they're headed in.

I feel the exact opposite. The inclusion of firearms excites the hell out of me, because this is From at the helm. I'm 100% confident they can implement such a mechanic in a fitting and interesting way. I'm sure the glorious and deep combat from the Souls games will be present, but a spicing up of things is more than welcome.
