Rumor: Quantum Break delayed to early 2016

...I'm not sure I follow.

In 2015, you can update a game quite significantly after launch to change its quality. It's a fundamental part of how service games work.

What does The Last of Us have to do with that?

I don't understand what you are trying to say here.

That a delayed game can be good. However I don't think they understood the point that was being made. It was the latter point the person who they quoted was disagreeing. A rushed game can be fixed now!

People really think Scalebound and Crackdown are out this year?

Has there been any footage of either game? Feels way too late to get the hype train rolling if it's out anytime soon. Especially for Scalebound.

The game was already missing from the recent official 2015 lineup Xbox trailers. That already ringed a bell. Not surprised at all if confirmed.

I'll echo what others in the thread have already said but if a delay is what is needed to get the game up to the quality they want then so be it. I'd rather not end up with another game that needs to be patched multiple times to work properly.

Isn't Scalebound tipped for 2016 based on the ntkrnl leak?

Platinum games said they're progressing faster than they thought. Plus shinobi hinted that we may get one of 2016 trio (Crackdown+PD+Scalebound) this year, and Scalebound looks like the best candidate.

We didn't get any gameplay for Sunset Overdrive until a month or two before E3 last year. It's not unprecedented.

Someone should just post this anytime an anticipated game is delayed.

The quote's nice, and all, but that implies that the game is delayed until it's good. I think quite frequently delayed games eventually get released because they simply can't afford to delay them any longer!

Eh. They have Tomb Raider, Halo 5, Fable Legends and Forza 6 this year(and possibly more). I won't be too upset.

A game that was already coming on One before they paid an amount of money, Halo 5, a F2P and another Forza.

Meanwhile, Q1/Q2 PS4 is Order 86, Tomorrow children, Bloodborne and maybe Rime.

Why? Rushed games can easily be fixed with DLC and patches. It no longer applies.

Yes, some games can be easily fixed with patches, but why not release a polished experience from the get go instead of a broken game?

If the delay means a better game, I don't see any problem.

Hopefully this is false.

This gen has had plenty of delays. I'm pretty sure that there are smart people at the top that really know what a realistic timeframe for their development cycle is. I can't fathom how this is a constant reoccurrence.

If true, whether it's because they need more time or because it would be lost between all holiday releases, I think it's for the best that this game releases early next year. Xbone owners should be occupied with Tomb Raider and Halo 5, among other big games.

If it was slated for summer it would be more disappointing.

The fall period isn't an issue. The issue is that for the next 6 months MS has nothing. They can't go 9 months without a single worthwhile exclusive like this.

Maybe they have a bomba announcement on E3 that Gears collection drops for everyone digitally the same day, and on store shelves within two weeks.

I don't think it works that way for new IP. Ass creed 9? Sure. Rush that shit since people will most likely buy it based on brand recognition. But for new IP you need to build trust and word of mouth, and if your game is broken it will hurt you.

Please keep on topic to the potential delay of Quantum Break, and not console warrior list wars nonsense.

You've been warned.

I'd rather MS release its titles when they're done rather than unfinished just so they can have titles release before Fall.

I don't think either of those games are coming out this year, but I disagree that it would be too late to start showing them if they were coming out this year. There have been a number of games in recent years that came out in the fall and weren't shown until around E3 of the same year.

Scalebound (Project Nagano) was said to be March 2016 by ntkrnl back when the huge leak happened.

EDIT: Oops, it was already brought up.

It was actually Phantom Dust. Friend of mine at Microsoft said it had an internal release scheduled for November but, well we know what happened to them lol.

do you think the reception of the order may have scared them a little? if i was them i'd be more then panicked. the demo we saw a while back seemed quite similar. cinematic walking sections. QTE interaction. small doses of combat. i liked the order and loved the look of QB back then. but it's clearly an approach to making games the critics don't seem to be a fan of

This is not true, I work for that site.

The reason he posted it was the post with the Xbox fall lineup not mentioning QB, he clearly states rumor tho and he doesn't work at microsoft

Crackdown not a chance.

Scale bound maybe. Platinum churned out MGR really fast.

I certainly hope not. I want Remedy to make the game they want to make. Hopefully they didn't get scared by the outlandish hate the press gave the Order.

FWIW, I would think it is far too along in development to be making sweeping changes like that, and I doubt the reception to a rival platform's game would sway them much.

It must have been in really bad shape to can the dev team so far into development. I wish we knew more about what happened with that one, much like Stig's game at Santa Monica.

I'm quite sure The Division will be delayed as well.

I'm half-expecting some form of "Assassin's Creed: Rogue: Remastered" as a stopgap for Ubisoft this year. Given it was quite well-recieved - certainly when compared to Unity - might serve to build some faith back into the franchise.
