Rumor: Quantum Break delayed to early 2016

Well.. It's a Remedy game. What did you guys expect?

Personally, I like if the game is delayed. The XBO lineup for the end of the year greatly pleases me even without QB, and knowing that Remedy will have extra time is good.

I'll be laughing if RDR3 comes out at the same time again and murders it terms of sales just like it happened the last time. On a related note, fuck me, RDR came out 5 years ago, how is that possible?

Oh come on. Not everyone has gaming PCs. Of course Ori takes less to run than other games, but removing "exclusive" because of being on PC is a bit ridiculous. That even removes many of Sony's exclusives since a lot of them are indie titles. Add in some titles being available on Xbox 360 and PS3 as well as their next-gen counterparts and that makes barely anything exclusive to XB1 and PS4. I'm guessing that console warriors will just keep changing what "exclusive" means to help their arguments. *shrug*

EDIT: Yup... this conversation moved to Ori. Sorry.

Well exclusive has a clear definition, but the more you expand the range of exclusivity the less meaning it has. I can say that Arkham Knight is exclusive to PS4, XB, Linux and PC. That's true... but there's no reason to point it out. If something is XBox/PC exclusive, all that means is that I don't have to go buy a new console for it. I already have a PC. Generally the whole point of bringing up exclusivity is the implication that you're going to need to buy a console for this game. Without that implication there is no reason to care about exclusivity. Not sure why you brought up Sony, but obvs the same applies to them.

I'm not sure what Ori's requirements are, but I'm guessing that most people that are aware of a game like Ori have a non-ancient PC. Could be wrong, I dunno.

Mac at work, iPhone at home.

I think you´re LTTP.

Haha, I read the first page and checked his twitter, then the last page or two to see if it was mentioned...just people talking about it still. Didn't have time to go over the whole thread at work.

Unless (again) you don't game on PC. The high sales of many multiplats show that many people don't game on PC.

Street Fighter IV for example is going to help PS4 sales regardless of it coming to PC.

Most console gamers don't have gaming rigs. That doesn't mean they can't play games on PC, but those gamers are going to be choosing PS4 or XB1 (maybe Wii U as well), and what's exclusive to consoles is generally more important to buyers in the console market. Of course many GAF'ers have gaming PCs (myself included), but we are the hardcore.

They promised a lot with Alan Wake graphically and gameplay-wise as an example. There's always huge hype around their games, but it's mostly them hyping it up to Lionhead levels or just below.

Good thing the game delivered! It's one of my all-time favs.

Order 1886 delay.

They didn't hit 'eventually'.

That's what I don't like about the quote; it's often used to imply that the delay itself is inherently going to make a game superior, but it still needs enough time and funding to actually make sufficient difference.

It's roughly true for Nintendo simply because they seem content - mostly - to wait for 'eventually'. But that's not financially realistic for all parties involved, particularly in the AAA field where each extra month piles a lot of extra money onto the budget.

I still don't think exclusive should be applied unless it's on one console.

Otherwise you have to count all those PS4/PC games And PS3/Vita/PS4 titles as exclusives also which just makes things messy.

Ori is not anymore exclusive than FFXIV

It is a launch since the 360 version is coming at a later date. That said... I consider FFXIV a Sony console exclusive. People have bought and will continue to buy PS4s for the game.

Also... the one console thing is weird because you also have situations were one version is clearly not the same as the other. Look at Forza Horizon 2. It's on 360 but it's a gimped version much like what happened with Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. I'm expecting something similar with Rise of the Tomb Raider as well. At some point you gotta generalize what exclusive means if you want to use the word at all.

This would be a big bummer, but Spencer has said that Fall 2015 is so rich with titles that they may need to force a delay or two. I'm not too worried.

I have no clue what the end product of 'Quantum Break' will be, but time definitely isn't a bad thing. Regardless, this will give them more time to slowly grow anticipation on the title while avoiding the Fall madness as others have said.

My main interest out of this is how many other games will follow suit this Fall?

Last I checked, Windows is a Microsoft platform like Xbox is, its only available on their platforms, the same way Helldivers is only on Sony platforms.

Ori is an exclusive, unless of course Helldivers isn't a Sony exclusive either

In my eyes "console" exclusives that share a release with PC are exclusive because I and all my friends don't game on PC. Games like Ori, FF14, and SF5 don't even exist on PC in my eyes.

Ori is a microsoft exclusive while Helldivers is a Playstation exclusive.

Thats too bad. Gives me a bit more time to get my hands on an X1. 2015 is already so packed but man that sucks, really looking forward to this one.

Helldivers isn't exclusive either. It's on more than one platform

I get it if it's totally marketing related.

Tomb raider is coming out this year as well as uncharted 4 and few more 3rd person shooters.

It's going to be a saturated market.

For fuck's sake, we are really transitioning into the list-wars-what-is-reaaaally-an-exclusive debate instead of the actual topic of the thread?

Regarding, you know, Quantum Break -- there are, I think, two kinds of delays here: It can either be to polish up and flesh out the gameplay to keep it engaging, engrossing, and complementary to the game throughout its duration (Max Payne) or simply a content delay where the gameplay ends up falling completely short halfway through the game (Alan Wake).

I really, really hope we are looking at the former rather than the latter. This is Remedy's chance to come back from Alan Wake, IMO. And yes, I realize that's a somewhat unpopular opinion :p

It's on steam, but going forward MS is trying to make Xbox one brand across PC and Console.

They can try all they want, if it's on more than one platform it's not exclusive.

But again, I get what you guys are saying is and that's fine. I'll tailor my own definition of exclusive to the conversation. If, for example, Ori is exclusive then I'll consider stuff like Hotline Miami 2 exclusive too. Since it all basically comes down to not on X1 or not on PS4. Problem solved.

Please don't be true, one of my most anticipated game for this year! I know i'll still have to play lots of great games, like MGSV, Tomb Raider, Uncharted 4, Halo 5 ecc, but i was really looking forward for this loving Remedy and all their games.

I knew it! I saw the live demo during the Xbone launch here in Finland last Autumn. It looked really, really laggy, jaggy, dropped frames (like sub-10 at times), it was fully in awfully narrow corridors. It had horrible screen tearing, the animations were far from finished and they were quite a mess etc. And I think all this was run in PC, as it seemed like it run in 1080p and Xbone can't handle those graphics and effects at all. Such a mess.

I was pretty sure it won't get out this year, I was right.
